More Control over Guest Ekeys Needed
I’ve been using a Kevo 2nd Gen as I recently started hosting my home as a BnB while out of town. It performs okay but the problem is how the scheduling of ekeys works.
It’s impossible to start a scheduled key at a time on one day and continue access until a set time on a different day (e.g. 3pm Mon thru 12pm Fri). I have to send a anytime key and manually remember to activate and delete at the appropriate times. This seems like it would be an easy fix for the developers to add the options.
I also purchased the additional gateway for reliability in case a guest had issues getting in so that i could do it manually from anywhere. The Gateway works great although it has to be purchased separately.
Another issue I’ve noticed is in the History. It will show when the door is unlocked by a guest but not when locked.
Hopefully future updates can correct these issues. Besides that, i do like the appearance and remote monitoring of my door lock status.
Need notification when updates are made
This is a great app when it works. Today I got home from work (encumbered with all kinds of stuff)and it would not open my door. I dredged out my phone and opened the app and was greeted with a login page. What? I used the physical key to get in, set down all of my stuff and looked up the password so I could log in. Apparently Kēvo had updated the app. Why I had to log in again, I do not know. My suggestion is for Kēvo to text when there is an update that will require a login. Or not require a login.
Kēvo is Unreliable
I’ve had my Kēvo for several years now. Back when it first came out, it worked as intended. Throughout iOS 10, it simply did not work. Up until iOS 11.2, it has improved... enough for me to update my very negative review with one star. I’ve started using my Kēvo again. I’m uncertain the benefits that the second generation has; however, Kwikset certainly has not earned my trust in their products. In hindsight, I would recommend a smart lock that has a keypad and supports Z-Wave.
On one side note, I can’t stand how easy it is to bump the Kēvo and having the door lock on me by accident. I’d love to be able to set the Kēvo to only lock after three taps.
