What's New in Version 2.1.1
At long last, an update to the Official KEXP iOS app! We’ve heard your concerns and are making progress towards addressing them, and while we have a ways to go we’re excited about this long overdue release. This update includes:
- Album art is now available on the Listen Now screen
- Improved player response
- Reformatted icon and loading images for higher resolution displays
- Bug fixes
I criticize because I love
I listen to KEXP every single day, both on this app and at home through my Sonos. I donate and evangelize for the station because it is quite literally the best radio station on the planet. But this app has always had a lot of intermittent problems. The archives seem broken half the time, which I used to use a lot to catch up on my favorite shows. And I've lost my favorite track listings with some updates. Please consider charging for this app, creating a dedicated private paid stream for it, and putting resources behind maintaining it. I'd happily pay to remove the promo ad because I have to listen to it every time the stream has to be restarted. It would be a great members-only app for people who donate, and you could even make more money with regular in-app reminders and members-only content. I love KEXP so much and want to see it excel in its embrace of technology.
Great when it works which is about 50% of the time
I was so excited to find this app for my iPad since I hadn't been able to get the show archive to stream on any computer for the last 6 mos. unfortunately, it only works about 50% of the time and when it does work it often stops playing and needs to be reloaded.
Sometimes some features work and not others, today listen now works where last week it did not. However today none of the archives shows load.
Streaming archive woes
Live streaming works perfectly, but playing the steaming archive is a real crap-shoot. It literally won't play them most of the time, which is very frustrating. The UI loads up the current song, the pause button is visible for a few seconds, and then changes to a play button. No sound ever comes out. You can tap play until your finger wears a hole in the screen, but good luck getting it to play.
This thing needs some real attention!
