The biggest leap forward in a decade for the #1 kids drawing and painting creativity software, our brand new Kid Pix 3D has everything your young artist needs to tell their stories and adventures on screen. The "3D" part of the name refers to the wonderfully rounded new 3D animations and 3D backgrounds, and the 3D paint that's so real you'll think you could touch it.
Easy path animations let 3D characters hop, jump and fly around the screen, and a hundred wonderful movie backgrounds, from the Golden Gate to outer space, add a touch of Hollywood. Using your Mac's built-in camera, and a variety of animated costumes, kids can have fun starring in their own digital documentaries. And with the new "flipbook" button, kids can easily create a 60-second animated short story all their own. For ages 4 and up.
New in this edition:
• Unlimited Undo and Redo
• Multi-layered 3D backgrounds
• 3D animated characters and objects
• 101 video backgrounds
• Easy path animation for characters, stickers and text
• Video narration with animated costume frames
• Publish directly to YouTube

• "Flip-book" animation creation
• Dual audio tracks to add both voice narration and music
• Set background music to play through the whole slide show
What's New in Version 2.1.2
Provides complete compatibility with OS X Lion.
While there is a way to import a photo of your child & place them in a spacesuit or indian outfit, etc and there is a way to animate that outfit, there is no way to animate your childs picture that appears within that outfit. So, you can "fly" the spacesuit around but you cannot "fly" your childs picture that is placed with in it along with the outfit. Also, there is no way to send a layer to the back or to the front so your child has to know what they want before they start laying up their picture.
There is also no tutorials and no way to contact the company with any questions like this you may have. So far, we don't find it is worth the hefty price tag. Yes, it has the potential to do good things there are too many of these small details that frustrate a creative child enough to give up on their project.
Had problems with upgrading from trial version
I had the trial version, and liked it enough to get the full version. When I bought it from the app store, and tried to launch it, it still says my trial version has expired, and I have to buy it again from their online store. Don't buy it until they've got this sorted out.
Edit: After contacting customer service, they recommended uninstalling, restarting my computer, then reinstalling from the app store. This worked out well, so this is no longer a problem!
I remember playing with Kid Pix on black and white MACS years ago…..I thought it was wonderful. However, this Kid Pix is AWESOME. Even as an adult, I enjoy it just as much as my kids do! My kids love it…I have to pry them off the computer when they are playing this, lol. Yes, it's $50 and it seems like a lot for a computer app but once you get it, you know why it costs so much. It's freaking amazing. Worth the money!!!
