KidStudio has four main activities that serve as the learning platform for kids in their toddler years. The first is called DrawPad. This is a digital notepad where kids can draw and learn colors. They can use pre-made coloring books, or just make their own creations with unlimited colors and possibilities. It is a kid friendly draw app with a modern twist. Next is a music production center for kids called MusicStation. There are beats, a xylophone, a keyboard, some drum samples, and a turntable to scratch with. The goal is to enable kids to make fun music using the sounds of our generation. The third is ShapeBox. This is an area where kids can learn the fundamentals of shapes and colors by playing fun games. The last activity is called GetOutside. This section pushes kids go outside and engage with nature by giving them things to search out in the name of exploration. With a strong focus on fun, engagement, and usability, KidStudio is another step in the right direction for educational technology.
Where some apps lack visual integrity, KidStudio was built on cool and crisp design.
As a teacher of special needs preschoolers, I find this app very cute and something I can use in my classroom. My only complaint is the response time of the draw pad. There is a bit of lag between the time I touch the screen and when the color actually shows up. One suggestion would be to add a little sound effect to the colors as they are being used for auditory input.
My two year old son loves the Music Station and of course the Drawing Pad! Easy for him to use and he knows exactly which app on the main screen to press to open it.
Best kids app ever!
I downloaded this app yesterday and my kids haven't put it down since. I love that it's educational and fun!
