Amazing for the disabled

I am visually impaired (partially sighted) and had lost my ability to enjoy reading by the age of 15. Kindle and its analogous apps in the apple store have made it possible for me to regain a lost love. The matte screen of the kindle device, the notes and highlights, the apps I can access on my phone and iPad, make not only hobby-reading, but studying possible. I only wish it had existed while I was in college for my literature degree!

I have only one complaint: it would be unsurpassed as a tool for the disabled if I could enlarge to any font size, not just the preset font sizes. On some days, your largest size is not enough, and I struggle with the settings. Increasing boldness would also rock.

I wish there was also a way to note errors. I have found many typos due to formatting existing works for kindle or self-pub. If I can see other people's highlights, why can't we flag typos for the author? I know I'd appreciate that, as a writer. Just an idea!

Much of the reason I bought my iPad

For various reasons, I've found it necessary to get a tablet, and I went with the iPad Mini Retina. Since I'm accumulating a reasonable library of Kindle titles, the Kindle for iPad app was a no-brainer (and actually a major reason for the iPad). The Kindle reader app is a smooth, well-integrated, beautifully designed, nearly flawless program. (And of course, the price is right).

No more swollen feet after sitting for hours reading at the computer. No more carrying around bulky paper books or fragile paperbacks. The iPad's Retina razor-sharp and beautifully detailed display and easy to manage Kindle software make reading easier on the eyes, and the 2-column display increases reading speed.

I still get some titles in paper, but the great majority of my reading is now on Kindle for iPod. It beats the heck out of iBook in my opinion.

LOVE this App!!

Love the variety of features, from highlighting, notes, ability to "star" favorite sections to easily refer back to, etc. My favorite feature is the ability to delete from my iPad books I'm done reading. I know I can always upload again when I need to. I compare this feature to iBooks where no book cover can be deleted from the entire list of books purchased. After several years there are books I don't want to read or see again. Thankfully Kindle operates like a normal "bookshelf." The only reason I didn't give it 5 is because I would like folders to categorize, i.e., novels, biographies, etc. Because of the ability to delete from the iPad doesn't make this need a priority, but it would be a nice addition.
