----- FEATURED IN READER'S DIGEST "APPS WE LOVE" -----
Both Kinfolk Vol.2 and 3 are optimized for first and second generation iPads. They will display in the third generation iPads but not at native resolution. Vol. 4 will be optimized for all iPads.
Kinfolk is a growing community of artists with a shared interest in small gatherings. We recognize that there is something about a table shared by friends, not just a wedding or once-a-year holiday extravaganza, that anchors our relationships and energizes us. We have come together to create Kinfolk as our collaborative way of advocating the natural approach to entertaining that we love.
Every element of Kinfolk – the features, photography, and general aesthetics – are consistent with the way we feel entertaining should be: simple, uncomplicated, and less contrived. Kinfolk is the marriage of our appreciation for art and design and our love for spending time with family and friends.
As a natural extension of our print publication we present Kinfolk Magazine for the iPad. We are very excited to be able to integrate our diverse content--words, images, videos--onto one platform. In addition to all the content offered in the print version we have integrated video features into the articles. We have also added a special "outtakes" section of images that just wouldn't fit in the print version. We also have taken advantage of the iPads native functionality to enhance the viewing experience. Some page layouts allow the user to move, rotate and zoom in on images. Others offer swipable, multi-image galleries. All articles retain the classic sense of simple design you have come to love in the print version. Enjoy.
A Crying Shame
A beautiful concept and a glorious magazine in print, however this transfer to iPad is cack-handed and ill conceived. It doesn't function like an app, nor like a magazine. It looks TERRIBLE - low res and impossible to read or enjoy visually. It crashes. As a UK resident I find it prohibitively expensive to subscribe to the print edition, so I shall just have to pass. A true misfire.
Nice mag but not built for new retina iPad
All the text is pixelated and not built for the new iPad retina display. Makes eyes tired and hurt after just a couple lines. Unusable on the new iPad - don't download if you have one!
Beautiful to look at, but the writing isn't that interesting. Yawn.
