What's New in Version 4.19.340020580

Another awesome update is here. We listened to users and their wants. We surveyed over 1000 of you users to get feedback on improvements. You indicated preference for brighter background and larger text. Check! We delivered. A refreshed look for you to see things in both low and dark light.

We added a new live tile which provides you with notifications that are not quite “push notification worthy” but important enough that when you open the app it tells you what is important.

We made our push notification rich in style with a more prevalent location.

We added support for HLS HTTP Live Streaming. What this means is more support for you to view live video!

We also did some weather enhancements with multiple weather layers in the radar section.

We squashed some bugs too!

Customer Reviews

Not my favorite app, but it's even worse on an iPad.

But after yet another nag for review, here's my thoughts. While the app is trying to give you more information on the main screen when first launched, this new version has even more clutter than before. When I opened on an iPad in landscape, there is a lot of empty space on the left and right sides. The older version would adjust for landscape, while displaying as much information on the screen as possible. The app does run slow on current devices. Am considering switching from the local king5 NBC affiliate to one of the other local stations as my main news source.
What's even worse with this app, is it gives you push notifications for useless information. You might want to get some of them, but not all of them. Since they are sending out so many alerts, why don't they give you the option to customize which alerts you want. Fun not having that option, I am forced to turn them off. Or uninstall the app.

Good once the live news starts

App is laggy in performance, just scrolling or opening stories. Other times when I click the play on the live news, it takes more than a few seconds before it starts, which I tap the play button to be sure I started play. The main website on the PC is worse, so many ads and when you try to scroll to a story you end up clicking an ad. Other times the ad doesn't go away or keeps enlarging after closing it.

Glitchy, temperamental and non intuitive.

The videos don't load most of the time. The photo subtitles are never there. You have to open the 'top stories' tab, and then go 'back' to get to national news. The typography errors are rampant. Most new articles are the same article from a previous tab with a paragraph or two added, so there's much redundancy. The weather tab does work well, and it offers radar data that is helpful.
