Knitter’s Handy Top-Down Sweaters offers you a chance to discover top-down knitting from the ground up! Best-selling author and knitting expert Ann Budd shares both a pattern guide and a technique reference in this helpful sweater knitting app. You’ll be guided through knitting five basic sweater types: seamless yoke, raglan, set-in sleeve, saddle shoulder, modified-drop shoulder (a digital bonus chapter!). You’ll find each pattern offered in multiple sizes and yarn gauges too. Including easy-to-follow, charted instructions, this app has everything you need to design and knit top-down sweaters. Plus, you’ll get three diverse patterns from top designers for each sweater type. Designers of the 12 patterns are Pam Allen, Anne Hanson, Jared Flood, and Véronik Avery. Don’t forget the bonus chapter on modified-drop shoulder only exists in the digital book!
If knitting sweaters is your passion, this is your app. The patterns and instructions in this app are adapted from Ann Budd’s best-selling book, The Knitter’s Handy Book of Top-Down Sweaters. Download today.
EBook, not App
To call this an app is misleading. It is an E book publication of the print version of the same title. Given the author's credentials in the knitting community, I was excited about the idea of an app using her pattern theories. If this were an app, I would not have to follow the suggestions of circling my size numbers or photocopying the pages to mark my pattern. If this was an app I would be able to insert my measurements or sizes and the application would calculate the number of stitches for me rather than cross checking a series of charts. If I had wanted to do it this way I would have purchased the print book. As a book, this is a beautiful publication, with wonderful patterns that have many options to each. As a book, I would gladly rate this 5 stars, but we are rating an app here, not a book.
Great content, bad app
There had to be a better way to deliver this content! I can't resist a bargain so went for the app instead of the much more useful eBook. To mark up a chart, as far as I can tell, the only way is to print a page by taking a screen shot, then sending that to a printer or to Dropbox - only a single page at a time. Time consuming for a multi page chart to individualize. It's so much easier to mark up a PDF, with no need to print at all.
Half the price of the PDF
Okay so it's book in app form, at least it's half price of the PDF interweave store. Since I'm going to be reading it on my iPad anyway I might as well get the app. Besides with an app there's the hope of an update that would make it more app like. Interweave has followed this format with all of their book apps. One day I hope they will incorporate more app like features to it.
