Choose from 101 different knots and see how they're tied in incredible detail. Watch the knot draw itself or use your finger to tie and untie the knot. Superb in every way - 5 Stars!
I'm a fairly handy guy (surgeon) and rely on several knots in my practice. Nevertheless I'm pretty hopeless at learning new knots and remembering them, even though I'm a sailor and do some fishing. Knots 3D is the answer. I love every aspect of the app.

Great App - 5 Stars!
I really like this app, I have 4 knot apps, and I use this one the most. As a firefighter rope skills is a must and this app helps keep me "knot prepared". The zoom and step through the knot using a finger gestures is real handy. The author updates this app with new knots often. I recommend this app.

Responsive and dynamic

After a few weeks of using this program daily I continue to marvel at how much it has facilitated my use of cordage in the field. There have been so many times where I want to try a new approach, only to forget how to execute a new knot, bend or loop. Now I have a way of trying something new because of ability to visualize. This is actually a 4d program because the author lets you easily move forward and backward in time as you watch the tying procedure. You can stop at any point, rotate the back side of the knot into view, and see the big picture.

This app allows me to *quickly* visualize a new knot, even if I am deep in the bush. Of course, one cannot depend on their smart device being available, so it is a nice-to-have. But, in terms of expanding one's repository of techniques, there is no app or printed reference I have found that uses such a unique way of visualizing the execution of a knot, etc. That the author also concisely explains both intermediate and advanced details of a particular knot, and compares it to other similar classes, broadens my perspective and helps with choosing the correct knot and approach.

This is a new app. I can't wait to see the program expand in the future.

Surprisingly cool

I was surprised at how cool this app is. The animations are excellent and allow one to slow down/speed up so that it's easier to see just how to tie. Rotation...zooming...flipping....all of this adds to the ease of learning how to tie a new knot.

I would have given 5 stars but I think the app needs two things to be really complete:
1). Basic knot tying info. What is a bight? A bend? A hitch? Lashing?
2). Search for purpose. Let's say I'm trying to secure something but I'm not sure what kind of knot is best for the purpose. Yes, each knot has a really nice description, but it's inefficient to to have to manually drill into each knot's description looking for what I'm trying to do.

I never understood how to tie a good knot

This app is amazing! I'm 57 years old and have had many people try to teach me how to tie knots over the years. They always got impatient with me because I needed them to slow down and show me a couple of times. My dad would yell at me whenever we went even as an adult since I only go out once or twice a year. The animation and 3D has made it so easy. And best of all it doesn't yell at me! Sad to say dad passed away awhile back before I could show him my new skills. He's probably looking down and smiling or laughing.
