Declan Korean FlashCards is a foreign language vocabulary learning tool by Declan Software. The full Korean version includes around 6,200 words and phrases each with a native speaker audio recording. Words are organized into approximately 100 WordFiles with each WordFile containing up to 100 words.

The Learning List: The words are learned based on a Learning List. The Learning List contains a subset of all the words in the WordFile – 10 words by default (although this can be changed by users). The Learning List allows users to concentrate learning a small group of words at any one time. Once a word is learned (by reviewing the Learning List and completing the Exercises) it is removed from the Learning List and is replaced by another, as yet unlearned word from the WordFile. This continues until the whole WordFile is learned.

Exercises: Words in the learning list should first be Reviewed using the “Review Learning List” option. Then users can move to the Exercises which include the Meaning Exercise, the Word Exercise, the Spelling Exercise and the Listening Exercise. Once all the exercises have been correctly completed, the word is marked as complete, removed from the Learning List and replaced by a new word. However, if the user gets one answer wrong in any of the exercises, then all the exercises must be completed again for that one word. This ensures comprehensive learning and retention.

Managing the Learning List: After a new WordFile is loaded the Learning List size is automatically set to 10. The number of words in the Learning List can be set by adding or removing words to the Learning List in the “Review Words” feature. In the “Task” menu select “All Words in WordFile” and then return to the main page.

Other language versions of Audio FlashCards includes on iTunes include: Arabic, Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese, Chinese (Traditional), Japanese, Bahasa Indonesian, Italian, French, German, Spanish. Russian, Hebrew, Greek and Portuguese. Free.

Excellent app, errors in the word list - so double check the words

This app would easily get a five star rating but for one major problem. The words in the word list have mistakes. I have informed the makers of these errors and they have not been corrected. In fact, they don't respond to me since they responded to my first email. That was the last time I received anything from them. Here is a short list of a few since I have just started going through them. In human body: 흉 chest. 흉 is not a word. Chest is 가슴. However, 흉터 is a scar. 취장 pancreas. The correct spelling for pancreas in Korean is 췌장. In geography: 신분 state, but that definition is wrong it means status or one's social position. I have just started going through the list of words so I just assume there will be other errors. Double check the words using a dictionary. I am using the Minjung's Essence app. It is easy for me to check the words prior to studying the list, because I am currently in Korea and I just simply have someone check the words first. When they point out errors I double check them with my dictionary app. However, other than the word list error, this is one excellent app. Well worth the money you spend.

Excellent App

Version 3.0 added custom word files to an already outstanding app. Like another reviewer it wouldn't open when I first updated from the previous version. I emailed the developer and he replied within five minutes. The fix was simple - delete the app and reinstall it. Works great now.

I've had Windows versions of Declan software for a few years and Mr. Vujanovic has always been very quick to respond to inquiries.

Korean Audio Flash Cards for iPad is a well designed, easy to use app.

So far top notch!

I haven't had much experience in learning languages. I haven't had a problem with this app at all! I picked up counting and seasons so I am on to the rest. It is really easy and I like the fact that they teach you how to spell and write in Korean too... Also it's fun... How great is that?...
