Korean Audio FlashCards is a foreign language vocabulary learning tool by Declan Software. The Korean version includes around 6,200 words and phrases each with a native speaker audio recording. Words are organized into over 100 WordFiles with each WordFile containing up to 100 words.

The Learning List: The words are learned based on a Learning List. The Learning List contains a subset of all the words in the WordFile – 10 words by default (although this can be changed by users). The Learning List allows users to concentrate learning a small group of words at any one time. Once a word is learned (by reviewing the Learning List and completing the Exercises) it is removed from the Learning List and is replaced by another, as yet unlearned word from the WordFile. This continues until the whole WordFile is learned.

Exercises: Words in the learning list should first be Reviewed using the “Review Learning List” option. Then users can move to the Exercises which include the Meaning Exercise, the Word Exercise, the Spelling Exercise and the Listening Exercise. Once all the exercises have been correctly completed, the word is marked as complete, removed from the Learning List and replaced by a new word. However, if the user gets one answer wrong in any of the exercises, then all the exercises must be completed again for that one word. This ensures comprehensive learning and retention.

Managing the Learning List: After a new WordFile is loaded the Learning List size is automatically set to 10. The number of words in the Learning List can be set by adding or removing words to the Learning List in the “Review Words” feature. In the “Task” menu select “All Words in WordFile” and then return to the main page. The select “Review All WordFile Words”. As you progress through the words in the WordFile words can be added to and dropped from the Learning List using the “Add to Learning List” / “Drop from Learning List” button. If you end up changing the number of words in the Learning List, that number will be maintained as words are learning and dropped from the Learning List, and new words are automatically added the Learning List to replace learned words.?

Loading new WordFiles: To switch to another wordfile simply press the “Load Another WordFile” button and then select the WordFile you desire from the “Load WordFile” table.

Other language versions of FlashCards available in the Mac App Store include French, Spanish, Italian, German, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Japanese, Arabic, Bahasa Indonesian, Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Greek and Hebrew. Free.

Great program!

Say-rah w

I used this program for the previous version and found it excellent! I recently had a problem because of the startup bug, but with the help from a great customer support person - Petar - I was able to fix the problem. Now, it works just like before, and I highly recommend this to anyone who really wants to build their vocabulary. The program teaches not only how to repeat the phrases and words after listening to a native Korean speaker, but it also encourages the reading and writing of Hangeul which is sometimes difficult to find! The program remembers which words you know and which ones you don't, and it makes you repeat them until you really know them. It has an expansive list of topics, words, and phrases. You even have to spell the words using Hangeul which is great for me since I often have trouble remembering the spellings in Korean.

Still does not work. At all.

This used to be my favorite way of studying Korean because I detest the teduium of making my own flashcards. When I first purchased the app several months ago, it worked well.

In the last couple of months, something happened - perhaps related to one of the updates? - that causes the app to crash before I can even use it. I contacted technical support and was advised to simply delete and reinstall. I've done so several times to no avail. I contacted support again to inform them that the reinstall strategy did not work.

They never responded to my second e-mail, so I have to recommend that nobody shell out $15 dollars on an app that is crippled by an error that renders the app unusable. It's a shame because I once considered this app my secret weapon for learning Korean. I hope the programmers will take the time to restore it to working order.

No "Learn Korean Alphabet" wordlist

Hello everyone,

I got this app after noticing that the update was after the last comment which was around September 16, 2012.
It works for me, like a charm, but it doesn't have a "Learn Korean Alphabet" wordlist, or maybe I can't find it.
I really looked hard for it, twice. I wonder if its better to get the word out to the developers this way or by going to the developer's site and sending them an email to review their App Store Reviews for Korean Flashcards. Hopefully, the Declan Software will add an alphabet wordfile to the mix.

It would be nice to receive support.
