Descriptions may be added to pictures, and photos may be resized when connectivity is limited.

With LabArchives for the iPhone and iPad, you can snap photos of posters, gels, whiteboards, or even books and have them stored safely in your Notebook from anywhere in the world.

Version 2.0 a big improvement!

LabRodent

While I found the first release of the LabArchives App to be very useful, it was primarily designed for taking photos in the lab with my iPhone or iPad and moving them seamlessly into my LabArchives Notebooks.

Version 2.0 is much closer to a fully functional version of LabArchives. It now allows me to view my Notebooks in their entirety. It has a built in viewer which is really great for reading Office docs (we have lots of spreadsheets) and PDFs.

If you use LabArchives in your lab, I highly recommend this App.

Functional, but I often still need to use website

SarahLawrence Scott

I use LabArchives for time-stamped rich text entries with an audit trail.

The iPad app works pretty well (much better than in the early days!) but has some limitations. There's no list view for multiple entries on one page, so it can be onerous to click through the entries, one at a time, to get to the one you want. Also, there's not a function to reorder the entries.

Fortunately, there is a button that takes you directly to the website through the browser, where both functions are available and work fine.

Some of the other functions, while present, are a bit more clunky than they need to be. For instance, adding a new page requires going in to an edit mode, and then clicking done afterward.

Overall, though, a good app for people who need a mobile scientific notebook.
