Labor and Contraction Timer
By Michael Kale
Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
Easily time labor contractions. A handy one-button interface to start and stop the timer, it also lists the duration and spacing of the last contraction, the average and count for the last 20 minutes, and the last hour. The app times contractions from the start of one to the start of the next, as recommended by childbirth coaches. This app has been downloaded by over 150,000 people to assist with the birth of their children.
The 20 minute average lets you see if your contractions are increasing or decreasing relative to the last hour. The hour average and count lets you decide when to go to the hospital or birthing center.
Record the intensity of each contraction and use the handy charts to view the intensity, count, and spacing of contractions over time. Record notes with each contraction and review them in the history list. Edit or delete past contractions to fix typos or adjust the start time or duration of each one.
Email your list of contractions to yourself or your birthing team to monitor progress or document the event.
The app remembers all data and whether you were in the middle of a contraction or not between launches, so you can jump back and forth between this and your favorite game or another app to distract you during and between contractions.
What's New in Version 1.5.3
Support for iOS 8 and iPhone 6 / 6+
Gave me something to do in early labor, which is a big help. The graphs are a good morale booster, showing labor progressing. This app got us to the hospital on time. Contractions weren't strong, so if we had been going by how they felt, the baby would have been born in a cab. Was also handy to be able to send the triage nurses an easy record of how long I'd been in labor and the spacing of contractions. Finally, I liked being able to wave my phone screen at my husband instead of having to say that I was having a contraction, because I didn't want to talk through them.
Best app out there
I've downloaded a ton, I couldn't find one with everything I wanted until I got this app. Most important to me was the time elapsed since last contraction feature. I also like that the contractions are easily editable and the graphs are great. Probably the best app for contraction timing out there.
The only thing that could improve is a snazzier UI ;)
Does not start or stop contractions.
Great app. The only issue I have, is the buttons are misleading. I clicked "Start Contraction" and "Stop Contraction", and it did nothing to affect my wife's contractions.
