We have redeveloped Babbel for Apple Watch from scratch. Everything runs faster and smoother now. But that's not all. We've created a shiny new complication (important piece of information you can see right on your watch face) so you will always know how many words are ready for you to discover. Give it a try. Your watch face will love it.

Want more? Not only have we added a fresh batch of content for you, we've also improved the way you download the latest course content.

Last but not least, we've fixed several bugs.

Apple Watch disappointment

I think this app has been pretty great when using it on my iPad to relearn and brush up on my French. I even paid for a yearly membership because I am dedicated and committed to daily learning. My problem is that with the Apple Watch, a max of 3 words is generated at any given time, and then you often have to wait up to 6 hours for more words to unlock, even if there are definitely more words available in the area you are in. I don't understand why a wait is needed. If you want to learn more words, you should be able to learn as many as you want until you leave the area and new words are generated, or you get tired/busy and need to go back into the app later, ESPECIALLY for someone like me who has already paid for unlimited access!!! It's not even structured as a game that might warrant a good reason for a delay. It's silly that there's a cap and a wait, and if nothing else, WAY too long to wait for more words to unlock (but why have to wait?). If I am at a restaurant, I get 3 words I can learn, and then 6 hours later I have to remember to go back to see what words are available for that next place that I am in (usually home in bed). I can't handle how ridiculous that is. Please amend this!!

Twice as good as Duolingo

Babbel is not perfect but it is the best language app I have tried. Like Duolingo it has you practice reading, speaking, writing, understanding the spoken language and translating in both directions; you learn in easy, progressive, interesting steps; and it is a patient tutor that keeps you practicing. Unlike Duolingo it teaches useful conversation and explains grammar as you progress. These two features are worth the price. The language recognition feature can be frustrating when you think you've repeated the word perfectly over and over and it doesn't. Just hit the arrow and move on. Duolingo was free and helped me brush up on Spanish and French but learning Danish from scratch was much less satisfying. I am learning much more conversational Danish with Babbel and it is worth paying for the difference.

Muy bonita!

Ha! Ok, so I'm only on my second part of the beginner's courses but I've learned a lot far! Obviously I am taking Spanish and it's awesome. My family speaks Spanish so that helps me, too. I ask them about certain words that are not spoken here in Latin America and they give me the strangest looks because they've never heard of such words or thought they meant something else!! It is just so great to learn something with them. I have many family members in Mexico that I would like to visit one day and actually have a conversation with them. I wish I had something like this when I was younger but it's better now than never. Good luck to everyone wanting to learn a different language. Very enriching choice!
