Customer Reviews

Poor customer service

I downloaded the app that allows you to try it for free. I did that and decided to buy the program, but I bought through my emails and not the app. Every time I try to start the app it tells me to buy the program. I tried "chat" and they just took my email info and written complaint. It was about 11pm eastern time so maybe "chat" was off-line, but why not say so and list hours. Well, it took at least 2 days to get a response, and both times it was the same canned response telling me how to log on my computer despite my saying that I was trying to do it on an IPad. Well, maybe I'll get a response between this review and the poor response I gave to their survey. Now, it is over a month and they probably won't let me cancel my subscription. They did that when I bought the discs thinking I could use them on my iPad. It was a busy time, and I didn't get to realize they could not be used on the iPad. When I called at 45 days they could see I had logged in only 1 time, but since it was over 30 days they could not help me, even though I just wanted some credit to change to an iPad version. So, you would do better finding other online learning programs. They have to be cheaper and more customer friendly.

Terrible UX, decent content

The content is fine from my perspective, but the UX design is terrible. If you want to repeat the questions you answered incorrectly, you have to answer yes or no to every question instead of being able to skip. Say there are 30 questions in a section. If you miss #1 and you want to redo it, you can go to #1 as expected and then you have to press no on the next 29 questions when it asks if you want to do them again, which is a frustrating waste of time. As an app designer, that kind of incredibly obvious oversight drives me crazy because it's such a simple thing to implement to save users a ton of time. This is only one example of the very poor UX decisions. In case you think the time is insignificant, if a person actually spends 50+ hours on this app, they could waste up to three hours of their time clicking through stupid prompts that add no value at all. I derived that number empirically based on how I and my daughter have used the app over weeks of use.

Rosetta - learning Spanish

I have been working on this daily for about a week. I am really enjoying it and believe it is worth the price (3 Levels for $150 at Barnes and Noble). I took some Spanish in 7/8th grades and recall some that is helpful. I am very positive about it but am having trouble with the single pin headset on my laptop. My voice is garbled so I fail the exercises. Rosetta said I am free to buy new ones and recommended USB. So....I will give it a try. Also. I am still tying to figure out how to fully complete sections. I am thinking I cannot complete because I now have voice recognition turned off. Not sure.

I believe that if you are serious you will want to get the cds and get the three free months of online and then pay the $14/mo so you can have it on multiple devices for a year or more.

Anyway. I believe this is an excellent product and look forward to practicing it with online tutors. And then really using it!!!!
