Happy Buying and Selling on letgo,
Different than Craigslist
Pros: a lot of people usually respond right away. I got responses minutes after I'd post something. I can't speak to buying anything on there but as a seller it gives you a lot of visibility.
Cons: this may be a local problem, or a merchandise problem, but I had a lot of trouble getting anyone past the "I'm interested" stage. I had a dresser that I posted the dimensions, noted that you would need a truck, and I got about 25 "I'm interested" posts. People said they'd pick it up then wouldn't contact me again, some asked if it was negotiable... and it was free. It seems there are people who just hit the "I'm interested" button out of habit. I had a tv for sale that someone talked me down on the price, said they'd be at my house at 9 pm, then called back to say they'd be 45 minutes late, then didn't show up.
If you have patience, I think this app works as well as any. In my case, I inherited a lot of stuff I couldn't store, and I ended up donating most of it anyway. The "I'm interested" button is very annoying, though, as people seem to use it as a like button then forget about it.
Letgo allows you to easily list your items for others to see. Posting a listing to sell is very easy: all you do is take a picture, upload, post, and rename. It's that simple. And once you post, your item appears in the "popular near you" home page. You can set your location so that it can reference your location to sellers and buyers, as well as numerous other filters such as distance from home, posted within the last 24hrs, the last 7 days, the last 30 days, or all products, and price "from" and "to" a certain price. You can contact and have a text-like conversation with buyers and sellers to ask if the item is still available, negotiate a price, etc. What I also love about Letgo is that the site/app takes no commission unlike most of its competitors who do, like Poshmark.
Needs MAJOR improvements
Overall its a decent app to buy and sell your stuff on to make a little bit of money. At first glance is seems like a smooth and capable app but it has some major flaws. The searching feature for finding items across the app is atrocious. It hardly works properly. For example, If I search the term, "video games" I will be shown board games or video cables. The search system inquiries everything that has the word "video" or games" in it, regardless of what it actually is. Also, the review system is pretty disappointing as well. The only way to review someone is if you are selling something to someone, which means that you cannot review a buyer or someone who blocked you. Also, the interface of the app seems very out of date and needs an update. Overall the app gets the job done but it needs some major improvements.
