From the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation comes
this realistic interactive tool for elk hunters on LETHAL shot placement. Navigate 360 degrees and choose any angle to gauge your shots effectiveness.
Gives the elk hunter better instincts on angles and shot trajectory that can be translated to the field when making split second decisions.
Educate yourself and be prepared for a once in a lifetime shot.
First, some of the anatomical analysis is poorly done. A head shot may give the analysis of "Possibly lethal -- Paunch/intestine shot." A spine shot to the neck is not a lethal shot. You get the idea of the issues.
Second, the control of the scope is poorly implemented. It is slow, ovely sensitive and difficult to manuever, frequently overshooting the desired POA and sometimes moving in a direction opposite to the desired direction. If this were a real elk, you probably wouldn't have time to get the scope on him, so slow is the scope to get to where you want it.. The scope movement needs to be firmly, directly and rapidly tactile.
The anatomical aspects are rather well done, however. Still, the app is poor value for the price in that you will quickly lose interest in coping with the length of time it takes to make a particular shot. I'm surprised RMEF put its name and reputation on this app.
Not very good app. Need lot of work.
