Tired of Words with Friends? Try LEXATRON, a word race!
"Overall Lexatron is a worthy addition to the word-play catalog for iOS." ★★★★☆
"Mixing familiar word play with a clearly defined goal is a wonderful idea."
"All told, it's an awfully smart idea. It's Scrabble-meets-strategy, turning
the classic boardgame into a fearsome battle of short verbs, interconnected
words, and essential vowels."
"For lovers of classic games like Scrabble, Lexatron could be a nice diversion."

Lexatron is a 2-player word race!
It's really easy to learn.
Form words using only your own letters starting from one corner of the board. Reach the opposite side first and win! Get blocked by your opponent's letters? Blow them up with a bomb and keep going!
Play online against random opponents or your Facebook friends. Play against your buddy sitting right next to you in a pass-and-play match.
Play up to 25 matches at a time!

Wanted to like this, but...
I have so many word games and I really liked the idea of this one and snatched it up, but unfortunately there are problems.
Aside from a few bugs which cause floating tiles and subsequent crashes along with a really confusing "back" button that literally takes you backwards in the game, the biggest drawback to this game is that it almost entirely comes down to luck.
It's a race to the center, and if you have bad tiles the game is over. There's absolutely nothing you can do and losing one turn to swap tiles guarantees your loss. And since you can't play a bomb along with other letters, that's another wasted turn. So you can bomb in the middle if you're blocked and the other player can just happily make it to the star even faster, or you can bomb the end of their chain and they will just re-block you on the next turn.
Ah, but what about the second win condition of points? Pointless. If the other player makes it to the star before you, game over and you lose even if you have the highest score. So why bother getting points? Just go for length. The tiles aren't going to be running out, so it's highly unlikely you will win with your score.
While the bug fixes and UI are fixable, I worry that without coming up with alternate win conditions that encourage point scoring (perhaps ending the game could cause you to lose) this game could be played faster simply by tossing a coin.
Neat idea bit ultimately doesn't work
This has a lot of neat concepts to it but I think it needed more play testing. It crashes frequently but more importantly, all games come down to who is luckier with the draws in the early part of the game. Once someone has crossed someone else, unless the other player gets several bombs right away, there's just nothing you can do. Unless the person in the lead gets no vowels and has to skip a turn or two, they will win. It can happen that you get no vowels, swap everything, and still get no vowels, but while this can stop a runaway leader, it's not a positive thing for the game.
It's also odd that there are scoring features but score doesn't matter. It's unlikely that the game will end by running out of tiles and that is the only time score matters. There's no reason why both players would get trapped away from their goal and so one will be always advancing. There is a huge number of letters for the size and goal.
Fun, but could be better
My mom and I both have a love of word games and we've been having a great time with this one. There are several things that could be done to improve it though. For example:
-Multiplayer over Game Center
-Improved graphics, they are currently a bit bland
-Possibly make the board bigger so that just a couple turns of set back doesn't almost always result in the other player winning
-I know that the draw of tiles is, and is supposed to be random, since the game goes so much more quickly than Scrabble and a couple bad turns can end in your demise, it would be nice if the letter drawing was a little less random. It doesn't help that even of you are completely cut off from your goal, there is no guarantee of getting a bomb tile any time soon.
-Perhaps the addition of special bomb tiles with increased blast radiuses or just an increase in the blast radius of a normal bomb.
