Doesn't install on 10.7.5: Last updated August 2011.

Do NOT purchase this App if you are running 10.7.5 or higher. I bought it, but the Apple Care tech and I could NOT get it to install on my computer. Apple should change the campatibility so people with 10.7.5 or later don't waste their time.

Best Latin parser for Mac OS

This app is based on the old freeware Latin WORDS for Mac. Apparently it has been updated to run native on MAC OS because it now loads much more quickly — and more importantly it just works on the modern Mac OS. (I actually delayed updating from an older OS so as not to break the older version of this program.) This alone makes it worth the price.

This app is a fantastic tool for translation work in Latin. It parses all inflected forms for both verbs and nouns/adjectives/pronouns, and it provides a basic comprehensive glossary of the language. It obviates the need for flipping through dictionaries to confirm tenses/moods/person/number etc.. It covers classical as well as some medieval and later forms. It also give alerts about alternate spelling forms (e.g. word-internal e/æ variation). In years of use I have yet to find a substantive error in its parsings.

This program won’t help much for first-time learners of the language. You still have to know your parts of speech, cases, and tenses/moods to understand the information it gives you. But for more advanced Latinists, this is a great help for making sure you’ve got the parsing right. Highly recommended!

Very Useful; Worth the Money

I used this app for AP Latin and it was extremely useful. Unlike most Latin dictionaries, it recognizes any form of any word (i.e., you don't need to know the nomative of a noun or first principal part of a verb). Definitely worth the price.
