The Lexington Herald-Leader eEdition lets you read the newspaper on your mobile device just as it appears in print. You can flip through the pages and skim the headlines of the Lexington's leading source for local news. The app allows you to easily enlarge type, jump from section to section, and share articles on Facebook with the tap of a finger. And if you missed the paper one day, don’t worry. As a subscriber, you can download editions from the past 14 days.

Very Unpleasant too Use

For the last several years I’ve exclusively read the Lexington Hearld-Leader via my iPad and don’t receive the print edition at all. This new version may end my subscription. While the prior Olive platform was fast, functional, intuitive, uncluttered and a joyful print-like experience, only better, this new system is clunky, quirky and a painful experience. There are far too many negative specifics to enumerate here, but few high points include low resolution when zoomed in (type is blurry), loss of the jump-to continuation of a story (now just jumping to the page of the continuation), limit of 3 downloaded editions for offline reading, loss of ability to pinch/zoom while simultaneously repositioning, pop up advertising, advertisements between pages that are not in the printed paper. It goes on and on. There are added function, but they jus clutter things up and for me, just wanting to read the paper, they are not needed. Or, should at least be better hidden since rarely needed or used. Just a very disappointing “upgrade”. I’d love to see a return to the original platform.

Good grief this is a bad app

As a longtime HL subscriber I am sad about this app. There was once an eedition that was pretty good. This new iteration is atrociously bad. Simply awful. It repeatedly plays a short, blank (black screen) video when I open it. Once I fight through that, the app is unwieldy, glitchy, messy and a truly unpleasant experience. If I described all of this in detail I would be writing forever. Improve this app (better yet scrap it and start over) or simply go back to the old version please. Get a new designer.

To sum up: worst news app ever.

App is now almost worthless

Cannot reliably access the landing page. Pop-up ads are like spam now. You need to fix this pronto. E-edition is cumbersome to navigate. Emailed you about my issues/concerns. Got no response. Who released this update without a field trial?
On the plus side: the new Extra news section is excellent (but also difficult to navigate)
