Great for keeping my old home line and for calling locally from overseas
I have had the same home phone number for more than 15 years now. I moved it from AT&T to ComCast a few years back, to save money by bundling it with my internet. But that was still around $50 a month. I don’t use my home phone enough to warrant that, but I didn’t want to give up the number that I had used as a primary contact for so long.
I moved it to Line2 about a year ago. I now pay $10/month to not only keep my number, but to have it with me on my iPhone whether I am home or not. I’m even finding that I use it more than my iPhone number. And more - I can make local calls here when I’m traveling abroad!
There’s still some work to be done on the app, so I’m only rating it 4 stars. In particular messaging could be far better. But I’m very happy with the progress they’ve been making over the past 6 months. And I feel that they are continuing to work hard to make it better, for a while in early 2013 I feared it was yet another of my apps where the developers had moved on to fresher and more exciting or interesting (to them) projects. As long as Line2 keeps providing fixes and upgrades, I’ll be a loyal customer.
Edit: went from 3 stars to 5! Thank you so much for the fixes
Edit: you fixed the background refreshes so I get calls even though the app itself isn't loaded. Amazing. The contact names show up above the number calling. Super great. Still can't block spam calls. I'll come back in a few months to report if I'm still receiving spam calls.
You asked me to review his again, and because the issues I asked you to fix by the next time you asked me to rate weren't fixed, I deducted another star.
The issues are: contacts don't load unless you refresh the app, so I don't know who is calling anymore. Wasn't like that in version 1.0.
Automatic Background Refresh doesn't refresh enough. My mother passed away and I didn't know about it until 3 hours later when I opened it up. That was version 1.0, and I'm still having the problem, albeit not as much, with 2.0.
I need a way to block numbers. I know it can't be that hard to block numbers from reaching my iPad, so I don't understand why you don't include the option. I get called by the same number 10 times a day about a trip to the Bahamas.
Paise , I love the look of 2.0. Clean, easy, nice colors. No text box where the dialer is is odd. Thank you for everything though, you have save me at least 500 dollars in the last year alone. Just don't ask me again to rate this product I use every day unless you fix these issues. We pay you 10-15 bucks a month for this. Get it right!! Hahn thanks. :)
So close, but not improving
I have been using Line2 since it was called toktumi, always with latest iPhone and IOS. The app tends to go offline frequently, so incoming calls don't ring through. It is a pain to remember to check it constantly. Viber does not have this problem so it must be solvable. A couple of years ago they reorganized the app adding a superfluous extra button to make a phone call. Nuts. Then there is the web-based call management function. Each phone number has a separate login, which would be acceptable if it simplified the operation. Not the case. I have been using this for going on 5 years and still can't find my way through the web of settings. If I needed forwarding on or off I learned to just go straight to support. But this does not seem to be an option any longer as they don't respond to emails. The stand to lose their market if someone with a little moxie comes along.
