(Please note that if you have OS X 10.7 or later you can get Lingon 3 instead which is easier to use but also only can create jobs as the current user.)

With Lingon you can schedule things to happen automatically on your Mac.

• Do you ever want to start an app at a given time?
• Do you ever want to run a script e.g. every hour?
• Do you ever want make sure that an app automatically restarts if it crashes?
• Do you ever want to monitor a folder and do something if is modified?
Lingon can do all this for you and much, much more

All Macs include something called launchd in the system which can schedule things. But it can be quite complicated to configure it as it requires complicated text files formatted exactly to some rules. Lingon takes care of all this for you and presents a simple interface where you can fill in what you want to do and then it is taken care of in the background.

In Lingon you can see all configuration files that exists in the system. And if you need to make a configuration that is not included in the interface you can switch to a text mode and with some help include all configuration possibilities.

What's New in Version 2.2.1

- Added key for multiple dates in Expert Mode
- Fixed possible startup issue with a malformed launchd
- Removed unused option to suppress warning for the system-launchds

Does exactly what I need it to do (for Mountain Lion 10.8.2).

This is an older "pre GateKeeper" app, and can do things outside the current user account. That's exactly what I was looking for. A simple utility to view existing agent/daemon plist files and create a couple new ones. I could do it manually (create file, set permissions, edit, run launchctl command, etc). But it's far quicker to open the app, create the new launch item, and paste my XML key values into the editor.

Putting the editor in "expert mode" to see the full XML, and then moving from plist to plist using the agent list makes for a handy way to quickly review settings.

App works fine on ML 10.8.2 It would be nice if developer could update and perhaps add the ability to search across multiple plist files… but Apple needs to implement some reasonable way for system utility software such as this to co-exit with their GateKeeper security controls. Anyway… just wanted to say thanks for Peter for making this.

Great configuration editor for launchd system daemon

For those that don't know, launchd is the defacto application/script scheduler in recent versions of OS X (cron is deprecated). Lingon makes it super easy to work with launchd; its GUI interface exposes all the options you need for quick and easy access. This is a great app for geeks and aspiring geeks; I would caution other users about using it, because you could really mangle your system if you muck around too much, not knowing what you're doing.

I've been using Lingon for a long time (years?), and it has helped me many times. It was previously a freeware/open source application, which was very nice. However, I consider it well worth $4.99, and I'm buying it as a "thank you" to the developer for all the hard work and quality control put into the app all the time I've been using it.

Terrific App That Does What Is Promised!!!

I find the negative reviews odd. This app found and disabled an annoying every hour Fujitsu registration display process that was unkillable! Simple GUI. Simple idea. BUT, it worked fine, especially since it had hover menus that allowed me to look at the address path of sneakily named processes to lead back to the Fujitsu process name. It required only a checked box (uncheck enable), then a full restart and now I am happy! Fujitsu support could not help or had no clue how to fix my problem. A google search lead to this App. The negative reviews bothered me, but the positive reviews on the superuser sites convinced me to give it a try. I have a suspicion the unhappy reviewers really did not know what they wanted! Great App!
