Needs better database
When I decided it was time to start eating more mindfully and begin keeping track of calories I downloaded this and another free diet tracker. This one won out because of the interface and the fact that it allowed me 200 more cal/day to reach my goal (I lost 2.5 lb in the first week so it must be right). The only problem is the database of food is more limited than the other app so I ended up keeping that one just as a reference when I can't find a food (especially a brand name or restaurant item) on this one. It also has weird glitches occasionally with not recording everything you enter for a new food. Overall it does the job though.
I have only been using this app for a few days but it seems to be pretty good in helping me track my food. I have been trying to get more healthy and exercise so this helps me stay focused on what I need to do to cut back on unnecessary calories. I will say, however, I'm not sure I like not having the ability to alter the portions of food that I take in. Specifically, when you choose a food, while there are many choices, many times I will have half of the portion that is listed. Example, I had half of an ear of corn but my only option was to choose a full year of corn. Otherwise, it's a pretty good app.
Really nice, easy to use, crisp graphics, sends data to Apple iHealth
Recently had frustrating experience with several other non-intuitive or inadequate food tracker programs (inc. "One Drop"), so I was very excited to find this app does all the things I need. It tracks all 3 macronutrients --carbs, protein and fat -- and not JUST carbs. It allows me to put in data from previous dates, modify the amount if less than standard "serving" -- all features that are very important and necessary for a robust program.
The scanner feature is wonderful for entering all the micronutrients automatically.
Last but not least, it is compatible with iPad's side-to-side screen (instead of vertical phone display). All and all, it's the best app I've found so far.
However, it doesn't reliably sync data entered on each device (iPhone & iPad) with the data on the other app, which is very disappointing. Hope the developers fix this bug.
