LocLok provides the following functions:

1. Policy-based location sharing. A user can manage and control how to share real-time locations with whom at what time. A user can set a radius of a "cloaked location" so that others cannot figure out the real location. Technically, the "cloaked location" guarantees a privacy notion, called "differential privacy" which is proposed in the research community recently.

2. Location sharing for meetings. If a user needs to meet another user of LocLok, they can set up a meeting in the app. Then their real locations will be shared with each other until they finally meet. Four notifications, initial meeting proposal, halfway, nearby and meet, will be sent to them for their convenience.

3. Location journaling. A user can query where he/she went at what time because this app tracks the locations of users. All the information will be contained in the app, and nobody else can view the location information.

LocLok uses your location data in the background. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. To analyze your battery usage, please go to "Settings->Battery".

Original idea, hard to find friends

Pretty simple app and is easy to use. I have never seen the idea of "cloaking" your location before so that was neat. It was hard find friends though; I had to ask other people to download it to use it. I think this idea could be taken further though and the concept could be used for more things. You have to ask yourself, what problem is this app solving and what need is it providing. The buttons and aesthetics seems a bit "stock" or "dated" and the visual design could use some tightening. But overall good idea and has a lot of potential.

User friendly

I didn’t have many other friends to track, so this review is mainly focused on app content and ease-of-use. I think this app has much potential for friend circles with busy schedules (lends to easy meet-ups during open times without the back-and-forth of texts). Also, I think this app has great potential for event companies (think music/entertainment festivals) to pass along relevant info to users interested! I liked the ability to control radius and time of location release, also that you could send specific requests to friends.

Nice, but not there yet

I use this app to check in on my sister at college so I know if she's busy in class or free to talk back at her dorm. I also have the Find Friends app which is very similar. I think LocLok is supposed to show you the history of places you've been and their durations, but I can't seem to get this feature to work. In general, it's a good app and is just as useful as Find Friends for locating friends and family,
