Customer Reviews

I like it! most of the time.

This is a great piece of software and I don’t have many problems with it, but when I run into a problem, it normally doesn't go away and I have to alter my original work to fit what I can and can’t do in Logic, and or use a different software for whatever it is and import the audio to Logic. For instance I’ve run into a problem where I can’t reverse, invert, silence, fade in or out, etc. on an audio file that I have full permission to edit; Logic just doesn’t recognize it. This being a common problem, I find it extremely frustrating to have to go to Ableton or some other software to do these things. On top of that, Garageband doesn’t even have this problem, so the fact that this has not been resolved boggles my mind. On the brighter side, it is a very good musical tool for musicians that want to focus more on composing or producing without having to go too deep into sound design but the option is there to do so if you wish, which makes it a very well rounded software and I would say it’s worth the price if you can afford it.

My Favorite App of All Time

I’m sort of disappointed that you guys would change the whole interface but not change the look of the outdated plugins. I actually welcome the new look. Either way, I notice the sound quality is different and I like it a lot. I cant wait to take advantage of the new features as well. I also notice basic or “minor" features like dragging and dropping and sometimes dragging loops that I made around the project are a bit buggy at times which was never a problem for me before. Overall, I enjoy Logic Pro X, it’s new features and etc., and so far it is my only and favorite program for producing music.

Feature Request:
- Continued addition of quality sound presets to Alchemy
- UI update to all the outdated looking plugins (especially Ultrabeat Drum Sampler)
- ID3 tagging on .Wav or .AIFF files on bounce
- continue to improve quality stock mixing / mastering plugins
- better CPU control

Like I said in my last review and the review before that, magnificent app and thanks again for all the work you put into it. I mean it!

Great… But...

Apple’s Logic is an incredibly full-featured DAW. By far the best package for the money. Amazing plugins, VI’s, and interface. Also highly stable/reliable.

However… One thing Apple’s Logic team has yet to address is the awful sounding quantization engine. Quantizing (via flex markers) manually or otherwise is absolutely awful sounding. Pops, clicks, unnatural sounding. The engine in Reason, Pro Tools, and several other DAWs is significantly more transparent. If only Apple fixed this one problem, I would have no need for any other DAWs during editing. This issue has been obviously apparent since Logic 9 (when flex time was first introduced), until this problem is fixed I’ll continue to use Pro Tools for all precise recording and editing.

That said, Logic handles midi and virtual instrument tracks better than any other DAW, it’s also very easy on processing power which I love.

I cannot recommend Logic enough, especially for people without the need of quantization (which is not always necessary). This is a fantastic application, wonderfully made.
