Customer Reviews

When it rains, it pours

I have been using many different versions of Logic for about 3 or 4 years now. It is great in terms of user-friendly layout and mixing capabilities. I wish its arrangement window mimiced a little more of the Ableton grid, but thats why I have Ableton. Etither way, Ableton has never forced me to create a new version of a song I have been working on for over a year due to corrupted files. My project that I was getting extremely happy with all of a sudden is corrupted and the audio files on TWO different versions have messed up. I confirmed I wasnt crazy with my studio manager sitting next to me while I opened up a session he just saw was fine the day before. I have noticed others are complaining about this but it isnt getting the attention it derserves. If this happens on another one of my songs I will be forced to create a video about this issue and ask others if they have witnessed it too. While the fix is simply creating a new project with new rendered MIDI files, its still time consuming and embarrasing if it happens in front of a customer.

Please, do not let this review be written in vain.
Can I stand under your umbrella?

I like it! most of the time.

This is a great piece of software and I don’t have many problems with it, but when I run into a problem, it normally doesn't go away and I have to alter my original work to fit what I can and can’t do in Logic, and or use a different software for whatever it is and import the audio to Logic. For instance I’ve run into a problem where I can’t reverse, invert, silence, fade in or out, etc. on an audio file that I have full permission to edit; Logic just doesn’t recognize it. This being a common problem, I find it extremely frustrating to have to go to Ableton or some other software to do these things. On top of that, Garageband doesn’t even have this problem, so the fact that this has not been resolved boggles my mind. On the brighter side, it is a very good musical tool for musicians that want to focus more on composing or producing without having to go too deep into sound design but the option is there to do so if you wish, which makes it a very well rounded software and I would say it’s worth the price if you can afford it.

too many bugs to fix

I wish i never updated to this version. i was holding off until it was summer and im now running sessions and in the middle of a session the app will just close itself down or crash. Not sure what thats about and on older versions of logic i haven’t had that happen before. I think with the touch bar upgrades that are being introduced are cause us who only have pretouch bar Macs are being effected by the bug feeled upgrades. Can’t wait for apple to address this and do an update. We certainly need one. some of the new features are great if it didn’t bug out on my so much. I used to be a reasons guy and i still use it but logic was the common thread with most other musicians that i work with so i got it to be more compatible with the industry although reasons 9.5 is off the chain. Logic is fast but reasons to me gives me more freedom of creativity fo all the true musicians not producers.
