Great content and interface

I downloaded the app so I can listen to Rewatchables 1999, and I am intrigued by several of your other shows. I was immediately impressed by the interface- very intuitive and easy to use. Obviously the exclusive content is what will entice people like me to pay for a monthly subscription. I would like to request a "Rewatchables TV" that dives into the most rewatchable TV shows. If you can somehow convince Mallory and Jason to do Binge Mode Battlestar Galactica, then just go ahead and take my money and I will delete my other podcast apps from my phone. While I am making requests, how about some exclusive Ride Home content from Brian McCullough of Internet History Podcast fame?

As for the folks posting critical comments- I assume they are also ranting about evil Netflix while watching Matlock reruns on NBC. Personally, I want to listen to the best content from my favorite podcast creators. If it is available for free with ads, then that is how I will consume it. If I can only get the content via a subscription, then I will subscribe. The same is true for my TV watching habits. We are living in the golden age of TV and podcast content - just enjoy the ride while it lasts.

Great idea, TERRIBLE execution.

Came for the AM Archives. Won’t be staying after the show is over. TAMA is what I hoped for from this platform—an independent creator getting the chance to expand on their work and pay everyone involved—but that is the one and only good thing about this disaster so far. The technology is messy and glitchy, which is hurting the people they ARE paying to host shows here, but the people who create free podcasts are the ones being hurt the most. Luminary tweeted an offensive jab at ad-supported podcasts, and while that tweet was removed and apologized for, they’ve simply continued down the same path. They are taking people’s content without permission—one case in point is The Bridge, where the creators never gave permission for Luminary to use their content, only one creator was even credited, and the website (which includes transcripts, making the show more accessible for listeners) was removed from episode descriptions. Others have spoken out as well. Luminary seems to be (maybe) doing something about this, but it’s too little too late—they’ve already lost the faith of too many people.

Waiting for improvements

I moved over to Luminary following my favorite podcast Guys We F*cked. I see the potential in this app and I plan to stick it out until they get settled.

- The recommendations algorithm is superior to the Podcasts app. The first login to Luminary I already discovered about five new podcasts to add to my library.
- The original shows have a high quality, even if I don't necessarily care about the topics

- Right now the loading is very slow. It took maybe one minute to completely load the home page, and marking an episode as played triggers a loading screen.
- I would be happy to have a way to archive episodes. For podcasts where I am making my way through the back catalog, it takes a lot of scrolling to get to the episodes I want. For this interface I prefer the Podcasts app, where the available and played episodes are in a separate area than the episodes I've downloaded.
- The incomplete catalog means I am missing my favorite shows from Gimlet, forcing me to use two apps. Combined with the other issues I plan to treat Podcasts as my primary app and go to Luminary for the original content until the improvements are made.
