Should have more effects built in
I think you guys should include more presets in the app. Examples of effect include fires, TV and fireworks. Also it would be good to establish an account system so we can access all effects across different devices. For the customization, I can't get a smooth color transition by sampling a video, so the function is really limited.
Amazing lights, but app needs help
FYI, the lights are AMAZING!!! Including physical controls on the back of the lights that are rock solid.
This following is only a review of the app...
Pro: When lights connect they just work. Bluetooth connection is transparent, pairing works automatically. No pairing to enable on lights or in app, you just open the app and go.
I’m looking forward to updates. Because there are quite a few problems:
Multi light control doesn’t work predictably. And I can’t control two Timpani lights. The app won’t recognize the second Timpani, even if I shut off the first one. I can get a Timpani and Cello to work together in the app.
Also, the app doesn’t read the current state of lights. Once you change a light then it shows the current state. So you have to look at the lights to know what the current value is before changing it!! This defeats the purpose of an app!
Can’t change green/magenta correction on Timpani.
Can’t change color temperature like on back of device. Can only pick from a few values instead of using full range in 50 degree increments.
Multi light setup doesn’t indicate which like is which. Doesn’t allow naming lights. Doesn’t show even an icon based on type of light.
UI is not intuitive. For example, using iPhone camera is scattered across multiple buttons in the UI that don’t visually appear related. Some buttons are on top, some on bottom. These should be grouped. And it’s not at all obvious that the app focuses on taking a picture and sampling color from the picture. This is really confusing to people new to lighting and maybe seasoned people as I don’t know why this would be such a prominent feature. Is it that common to use!?
I would rate the app really low except that I’m hopeful updates will address the above problems. And the features that do work are mostly sufficient for what I need.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
