Assigned ride I didn’t accept.

Last night I did a scheduled ride on Lyft at 1:30am. I did the scheduled ride because the pickup was one mile from my house. The drop off location does not have cell service. I clicked “drop off” and head home. The app says “something went wrong, try again”. This happens when there is no cell service. When cell service returns I try to turn off the app and get a message “go offline after this ride”. And I can’t turn off the app. Then the map pops up with directions to a pickup 18 minutes away. I never got a flashing message for a new ride. I never accepted the new ride. I have two choice: cancel the ride, or drive 18 minutes away from home (at 2:00am). I’m not a “cancel ride” kind of driver, so I make the trip to pick up the rider. It ends up being a three mile trip on winding dark roads. Six minutes and a $4. fare. $4.00 for 18 minutes of driving to get there, plus I’m now 30 minutes from home.
Why does Lyft assign me a ride I didn’t accept, (never even received a request) and how does Lyft expect a driver to drive 18 minutes to a pickup location, without getting paid, for a $4. Fare? Deducting just the gas used, not wear and tear or my time, it actually cost me money to do this trip.


5 star company, 1 star UNSAFE app 👎🏼🚫

I usually drive in the evenings and night time. There are a few features I love about the app, but by the end of the night I am frustrated with my eyes hurting because of the extremely bright UI that has absolutely no option for a dark mode or night time mode. I turn my brightness down, but then when I switch to Uber while using their amazing dark mode, the brightness is way too dark and I have to keep adjusting the brightness back and forth. Such a hassle, and extremely dangerous while driving. The app should offer the safest possible UI for day AND night driving. The app also has glitched many, many times when trying to accept rides once they pop up, which has resulted in missing some all together. Whenever I zoom out on the map to see the city view, and then click to relocate my exact position, the app no longer follows my location in live time and keeps me distracted while driving as I have to constantly click to find my location again to see where I am going. Navigation is absolutely horrendous as it doesn’t give you turn-by-turn or street names/distances as you are coming up on your next exit or turn. Overall, the app requires WAY too much user interaction, and in return is entirely DANGEROUS to drive with. I spend more time dealing with the app than I do being able to watch the road. 👎🏼🚫


Too many glitches

I’ve been noticing the Lyft Driver app have various glitches over the past week. Sometimes whenever I get a request and I click to accept, the app freezes with the request tone still playing in the background. When I force quit the app and open it back up, I end up loosing the ride even though I clicked to accept it.

Also, I use Google Maps integrated with the Lyft app to use as my navigation, when I’m on my way to pick up a rider the navigation sometimes doesn’t know my current location so than it begins to reroute me to a road I’m not on and confuses me on getting to the rider, this also happens during a ride, the navigation just gets lost and does not know where I am, I get rerouted and sometimes it affects my ratings due to poor navigation.

Finally, just recently a rider admitted to taking advantage of a glitch the app has been having for the longest. The rider said during Prime Time the rider force quits and reinstalls the Lyft rider app to avoid having to pay the Prime Time percentage, the rider noted that this method has to be done multiple times, most of those times doesn’t work but it’s definitely an issue because if a rider isn’t paying the Prime Time price than the driver wouldn’t be receiving either.
