What people are saying:
"Ride-sharing programs like Lyft are providing commuters with less expensive and more social ways to get around. Users log into the app, specify where they’re heading, and a background-checked driver picks them up for less than a typical cab ride." - TODAY Show
“Lyft is a real community — with both the drivers and riders being inherently social — making real friendships and saving money.” - Time
"In a city where taxis can be scarce and… black town cars are rampant but expensive, Lyft has quickly gained visibility due to low prices and quirky branding." - Ad Age
"Lyft's focus on the everyman has recently extended to the wildly successful Lyft Line carpool service aimed at commuters, which offers discounts of 30% to 60% for sharing a Lyft ride with others." - Fast Company
For Lyft drivers, continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

First of all, if you haven’t taken a ride yet make sure you use the coupon ABDULLA15 to get $20 off your first ride! Enter it right before you request a ride. Might as well try it out since it probably won't cost you a thing!
The app is easy to use and intuitive, giving you important info like the driver’s face, phone number, and car make/model. It’s amazing how quick and seamless the entire process is. A car comes to your door within minutes of pressing a button! The drivers are real people, they are very polite and their cars are clean! Some even come with complimentary water and candy! Even if you want to charge your phone, a lot of drivers have car chargers at your ready! With the new Lyft Line it’s cheaper than ever. After all this, I don’t see why you would ever use a cab again.
The customer support is also fantastic. I got overcharged on one of my trips and I didn’t have to say anything more than a comment on my driver feedback to get a refund. I’m very happy and I hope Lyft continues to exceed my expectations in not only the app but customer service! I also prefer Lyft much more than other competitors, mainly because the drivers are more friendly and the company isn’t evil.
I was really excited to try lyft, on the surface it seemed much better than uber and they even offered me 10 free rides which I was happy to take advantage of in this NYC cold weather. Well in the end they completely screwed up. I requested a ride which I still had free credit for and they were trying to charge my card still. When the driver arrived, he called and I told him I would be right out. There is a minute wait period and I was literally outside within a minute and my driver was gone AND I was charged a $10 no show fee. Lyft states I could dispute it by using the price review option on my receipt and THERE WAS NO OPTION TO DO THE PRICE REVIEW. What's worse is trying to get any actual help from lyft is near impossible, all methods you try will lead you back to their online help articles which are no help at all. So basically I paid money for a false no show and horrible service. I will never use lyft again, I still have 4 free rides but after seeing how their system works I don't even want to deal with them. It seems like when these companies have access to your credit card they think they can just charge you for anything without even forewarning you. I would advise everyone to really make sure they know all the hidden ways lyft will try to charge you. Sorry but lyfts service is not for me. The 1 star is for the free rides only.
Terrible, unreliable service. Won't be using any more.
Terrible and unreliable service. Drivers don't know the city (take inefficient routes, head 20minutes in the wrong direction). Drivers are needy - telling you that the company wants passengers to sit up front with them, insisting on talking even if you're clearly busy and not interested in talking (again at company insistence. Why? some people just want to pay for a ride), and forcing people to wear a seat belt in the back seat. Another driver didn't pick up the phone when we were trying to find each other and then canceled after I waited 10 minutes for him/her. In terms of the app/service, very few drivers are available (often no cars are available even in the middle of downtown Chicago, or app claims soonest car is 10 minutes away and then they take far longer), estimated arrival times usually grossly inaccurate (eg takes 25 minutes when it promises 8- whether the fault of the app or drivers' navigation abilities), and surge pricing is always on. There is no way to see the price accumulate as you're driving and there's no way to estimate the price in advance (don't like this black box). Really dissatisfied. Won't be using it going forward. $200 promo credit gave me 10 datapoints with Lyft and all rides have been disappointing.
