What people are saying:
"Ride-sharing programs like Lyft are providing commuters with less expensive and more social ways to get around. Users log into the app, specify where they’re heading, and a background-checked driver picks them up for less than a typical cab ride." - TODAY Show
“Lyft is a real community — with both the drivers and riders being inherently social — making real friendships and saving money.” - Time
"In a city where taxis can be scarce and… black town cars are rampant but expensive, Lyft has quickly gained visibility due to low prices and quirky branding." - Ad Age
"Lyft's focus on the everyman has recently extended to the wildly successful Lyft Line carpool service aimed at commuters, which offers discounts of 30% to 60% for sharing a Lyft ride with others." - Fast Company
For Lyft drivers, continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

$50 coupon: RIDE376
First of all, if you haven't taken a ride yet make sure you use the coupon "RIDE376" to get $50 off your first ride!! Enter it right before you request a ride. Go to the Payments tab in the app and enter the coupon there. Might as well try it out since it probably won't cost you a thing!!
The app is simple, easy to use and intuitive by design, giving you important info like the driver's face, phone number, and car make and model. It's amazing how quick and seamless the entire process is. A car comes to your door within minutes of pressing a button!!! The drivers are real people, they are very polite and their cars are clean! Some even come with complimentary water, gum and candy! Even if you want to charge your phone, a lot of drivers have phone chargers at your ready!! Lyft is definitely cheaper than your average cab. After all this, I don't see why you would ever use a yellow cab again. Even if you want to get a black car on the occasional night out, it's still cheaper and more convenient than hiring your own private driver.
The customer support is also fantastic. I got overcharged on one of my trips and I didn't have to say anything more than a short comment on my driver feedback to get a full refund. I'm very happy and I hope Lyft continues to exceed my expectations in not only the app but customer service! I also prefer Lyft much more than other competitors, mainly because they have so much more supply and cars are always just a few minutes away!!!!
Do not ride with Renato
I always enjoyed lyft once a friend put me onto it. The last ride I thought was a very caring act was a horrible one. I went out had too many drinks and called Lyft. A man named Renato picked me up . In the middle of the ride I felt sick and I told Renato. I told Renato that I will lay my jacket down on his floor and I did and I vomited twice IN MY JACKET. Renato even went as far as giving me a bag stating it's okay I constantly apologized for my behavior. When I left the Vehicle I had 95% of my vomit in the bag and my big trench coat. The next day I had to recover all day. Later on I saw that Renato charged me $100 and placed a claim stating that me and another individual tried to get in his car and he refused so we damaged it...and he took a picture of about 10mls of vomit on the floor in his car as proof. Lyft claims they investigated but eventually took his side. I contacted them asking them how his story makes any bit of sense and I admitted to the 10mls of vomit in the corner of the door! Still they ended the investigation allowing Renato to steal $100. So I have officially ended my relationship with Lyft the investigators and the company and those crooked drivers out there have completely turned me away .
Very nice, but a few small issues
The service is great, but the app and their computer system have a couple of problems. The largest one is the addresses both pick up and destination: often drivers go to a slightly wrong address, I believe when they are depending on the app's navigation; and on reports that the email to riders, are almost always wrong, sometimes more than a block away. Also, especially in line mode, the notification when a driver arrives only works about half the time. Otherwise the driver seems stuck at a minute away, and if you're blind, that can really be a problem since you can't see the car sitting in front of your pick up location.
I love the favorite drivers idea that someone else on here suggested. This service is so much better than Huber, and if they did something like that it would even be better still. I too want changelogs when they update the app.
