M1 is an investment platform, not a trading platform. So, you’ll never be charged commissions to buy and sell securities. Beyond your first $1,000 on the platform being free, unlike the fixed fees of other fintech apps like Acorn and Stash, you’ll pay a nominal 0.25% annual platform fee of your investments, up to $100,000. For accounts over $100,000, the fee is only 0.15%.
