Does what it says, provides the connected device and Mac address

A little generic, scan shows devices, then you have to hunt and figure out what they are in conjunction with AirPort Utility so you can name them. It does however provide the Mac IP address for the connection, I just thought since the information is available from AirPort that the scan would show the connected device(s) name(s); for instance my MacBook showed up as 'Apple Generic Temporary' with with the Mac IP address and a CAT45/Ethernet Plug for the icon … looking into AirPort Utility I could see the Mac IP address, match them up, go back to app and set the name to be my MacBook PRO then select the MacBook icon for it in the scan window. You really need to have ALL your devices and their respective Mac Address so you can figure out what device is connected to which Mac IP address, then name them and pick the appropriate icon.

All-in-all …. NOT BAD and worth the price …. HOPE it will be MORE intuitive and informative in future updates!

fairly average

I bought this app for the "ping scan" function, because it allows you to scan a range of IP addresses outside your local LAN to see which you are alive. I used to use the solar winds network apps on PC and miss their functionality. Unfortunately it doesn't do a reverse hostname, or try and figure out a host type which would be really helpful, and you can't export the scan to a file, or even enlarge the window. the other functions of the app are mediocre compared to something like "Inet" which is much better, more nicely laid out and easier to use for scanning a local network...

Nothing more than a GUI that calls a few backend built in *NIX utilities and does so poorly. Buyer Beware!!!
