Ratings and Reviews
Does not work UPDATED
I am haveing the same problem. I downloaded the trial off the Macgo website and it was great. I paid a ridiculous amount of money for thiis on the app store and it refuses to read my discs. Sometimes it says to unplug the drive and try again. Sometimes it says disc verification failed. Even on the same disc. I really, really, really wish I’d checked these reviews, because this was a lot of money for a useless app. I have emailed Macgo support and not heard back. I tried to report a problem to the app store, but Apple doesn’t care.
After much back and forth with the developer, who I contacted by email when I wrote this review, we’ve determined that what is listed under standard here is actual the pro version of the app. Standard is v.2.x.x.x while Pro is v3.3, as you see in this listing. The actual standard version, downloaded from the developer’s website, works fine for me. Which is great, because that’s all I wanted. If you’ve tried a trial of standard and want to purchase, DO NOT BUY IT HERE. Buy it directly from the developer. I thought buying from Apple would be the easiest thing, and boy was I wrong. I’m amending my stars based on how responsive the developer was.
Developer Response ,
Hi, I’m the developer of this App. I’m sorry to hear that the App Store version doesn’t work but the Trial version works. It is a strange issue because the Blu-ray playback features are built with the same source codes. I’ll let the support team to reach you and collect some information such as version number of the trial version, Blu-ray drive model number.
I think there is an problem with your Blu-ray drive model. Some of the reviews on Amazon said that the drive model does not work with PowerDVD. We've seen similar drives on the market, they work with file access, disc burning, VUDU service, some of media players, but they do NOT work with PowerDVD or Macgo (v3+), which requires AACS authentication.
Gave me issues
I really wish I read the review before I perchased this. I downloaded a trial from a website and it worked perfectly. So I decided to buy through the mac app store because its a great way to manage purchase apps if I transfer computers or whatever. Unfortunatly this version gave me issues and would not work at first. After playing it on the trial version and then switching over to this paid version it started working. I haven’t had it long enough to know if this is going to be a continual problem or if this was just a one time issue. Hopefully it’s just a one time issue.
I was stupid enough to spend this ridiculous amount of money for a player. I have now tried more than 7 blu-ray files and not a single one has worked. some on the files would play the video at an extremely slow rate. not a single blu-ray file would play the audio. what am doing wrong with a $50 dollar app??? beyond a waste of money in my opinion.
