NOT THE CURRENT VERSION!! NO IPHONE SYNC SUPPORT!!
I heard from the Mariner Software and they have kindly taken care of the version problem for me. It does appear that MacGourmet 4 will be available soon on the App Store after it is submitted to Apple for review (Very Soon). In the meantime they have offered a serial number so I can download a copy from Mariner’s website. I’m up and running on version 4 right now and it’s great to have my recipies on my phone and iPad as well!
I’m giving a 4 star rating based on version 4 and the great support I got from Mariner!
I wish I had read the reviews on this before I purchased it. The version you are looking at is NOT the current version, that you can download for the same price from the Web. This version is Ver 3.6.2 and does NOT support iOS syncing. I accidentally purchased it because the App Store is supposed to have up-to date versions of software on it. I am hoping to get a refund or an upgrade out of Mariner or the App Store. If I do, I will give this App the 4 stars it so rightly deserves!
Geat app and amazing support
I have been using MacGourmet for a number of years and finaly take the plundge and upgrade. As a member of a CSA who does lots of cooking with different ingredients I have downloaded lots of recipes over the years. When I went to upgrade I couldn't get my database of nearly 1000 recipes to migrate over. With a just a few e-mails with the developer we were able to work out me giving him my database and he sent it back in the right format so I could open it.
If you do a lot of cooking and need something other than a card box to keep reciepes in, this is a great choice. And the iPhone app is great to have with your recipies on them when at the store to see what you need to pick up.
NO LONGER SUPPORTED
I find it pathetic that Apple continues to sell either this or MacGourmet Deluxe 3.2.6. I purchased this product in November, 2012. Mariner stopped supporting it in Spring, 2013! So, if you buy it, it will be virtually useless. Especially if you want to have the app on your iPad or iPhone, which is the most handy for viewing recipes in the kitchen. There is no more wireless or cloud sync for the two products, both need to be upgraded at a total cost of about $50 for the user, and that is the discounted price I get to pay for an app that was useful for less than a year. (I found this out by mistake because, even though Mariner said they told all users, I somehow missed the message). So, until Apple catches up with what has been happening the past 12 months, I suggest you find another option.
