Great app. I use it every day.
I’ve been using this app since 2013 and now I use it every day. My journaling file is 757MB and shows no discernible performance issues accept when pulling several images into a single entry from Photos.
Its backup and synchronization features are outstanding.
As a writer it’s better than Evernote simply because MacJournal has more robust organization for the wide variety of and volume of work I engage in (but I still use Evernote for basic tasks such as housing research notes on books I read). Actually, the two pair well together and that synthesis in my workflow enhances my productivity.
MacJournal has many features to enhance one’s compositions such as a book template in which I can get an idea of how my work would fit in a book of a given size. It has the shared feature to port work to Facebook, email, and a few other applications. The sort entry feature is very comprehensive. It has excellent text formatting capabilities. Most importantly, it has an import/export feature. There’s a lot more to this app than I’m describing here.
The app is very stable, too. If your backup/sync discipline is solid it’s very, very unlikely you’ll ever loose any work.
I love it.
Powerful journaling app
MacJournal is the most powerful journaling app on the market. For some people it may have too many features. Those folks might prefer LifeCraft or DayOne or whatever. But if you’re looking for a full-featured writing environment with every conceivable way to organize your entries and notes, then take a good look at MacJournal. I’ve been using MJ for years and haven’t experienced any of the problems encountered by the other commenters. I’ve got entries dating back ten years. It’s always been reliable. I also like the wifi sync between my MacBook and the iPad version. I only hope that MacJournal continues to receive updates in the future.
I am blown away! Incredible doesn’t even cut it!
I am blown away! I am visually impaired and use the Voiceover accessibility feature both on iOS as well as OSX. In both cases, I have never hardly seen an app that worked so fantastically from an accessibility standpoint. This dev has obviously gone way way out of his/her way to make this app accessible. The interface is absolutely perfect! Considering I have some mental disorders, this app is going to be phenominal for keeping track of my most inner private thoughts. Thank you thank you thank you! You can’t know how long I’ve wanted an app like this! Devs? You all just made my day! Thank you! and God bless!
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
