Nobody Likes A Tease

TL;DR: only app, tutorial, and one section of solo campaign is free. Don't download if you expect more.

Long Version:

I downloaded this knowing that some of it would be asking for money; that is just how card games are. What I didn't expect was to get into the solo play and only get to play against five decks. And you can't say that you've "unlocked" something if you still have to pay to play it. You have a great app here; just let us play through the solo player mode for free and maybe get some packs for it. I would maybe go on to pay for multiplayer and more booster packs if I could get the cards to feel comfortable with playing against other players first. The interface is easy to understand given the introduction and tutorial play and I was even able to make a pretty solid 3-color deck with the cards I was given. The turns go well and if something in single player gets the best of you or a mistake is made, you learn from it and restart the match. It really is a fun app and I am glad you made it. Just don't call it a free app with the way it is. You know what is a free app? Hearthstone. And Blizzard has still made a bunch of money off of me.

Crashes every time

Love mtg love this game. But this is the buggiest app ever. Interface is irritating in menus. Frequently scrolling through dozens of choices very slowly. Game play good. One problem is hard to cast an instant between last spell of opponents 2nd main phase and their end step.

To the crashes. This is on iPad mini. Can't build a deck and name it before saving. Crashes and you lose all work. Save after building exit.. Go back in and rename and save. So wasting my time. If multitasking like playing music will crash most multiplayer games and crash other app. After update to iOS 8.1 can't ever play 2 multiplayer games in a row. Pops up failed to find players message as if you were offline. Only way to fix is open game center or restart app. If you take more than 3 seconds to do this then this app restarts to first cut scene and initial load. Initial load is longest of any app I've seen.

Could go from 1 to 4 stars if it stopped crashing so much. Could be a 5 if they found ways to speed up all loads. Maybe an interface/animation/ simplified version for older pads and minis. And stop playing every cut scene EVERY time.

I used to play mtg back in the early days. The 2014 and 2015 iPad apps are amazing. They clearly put a lot of effort in the engine and interface and it's awesome. Somehow the 2014 app looks and feels much better so woc please work on that.

I've an iPad Air and the app never crashed. The 2014 had a glitch once in a resolution but that's it. Pretty stable experience for me. They implemented a great logic and anybody who know a little about programming will know and appreciate that. Keep in mind that it's a small developer!

Finally, I don't get when people say you have to pay for everything and anything. You only have to spend $10 to unlock the full game! You can earn cards by playing, which is great! I did stop playing mtg exactly because of its cost. I never played magic online because I thought it was a scam for charging you for virtual cards. Finally they made an enjoyable game for a very reasonable price!! Instead of complaining reward these hard working people who try hard just like you.

The game can clearly improve. More cards and a better multiplayer are an obvious target. Hopefully this will be improve with the July 2015 release they are planning. I would well be willing to pay $40 for a deep, full, well developed game where you don't pay for cards anymore. Magic is great fun, but it's just a game and it shouldn't be that expensive.
