"Slick card magic for your iPhone." -TUAW.com ::: Featured on Apple's New & Noteworthy ::: NOW 3-TRICKS-IN-1, WITH IPAD SUPPORT.
Easily perform an astonishing trick using an iPad, iPhone, or iPod and a standard deck of playing cards. Three illusions included, an incredible camera trick, an amazing iPod trick, or if you have an iPad, you can do a cool trick right on beautiful screen using the iPad itself as your card table. Whatever device you have, Magic Card takes full advantage of what it can do. Astonish even the most jaded people with beautiful, simple tricks that exploit the unique power of your iPhone in clever ways. Requires no sleight of hand skills!
--What the iPhone trick looks like--
A spectator cuts the deck of cards is cut into two piles and their place is marked by putting the second pile sideways across the first. You explain that magic is a dying art as modern technology is making sleight of hand obsolete. For instance your iPhone can determine which card they have cut to on its own. Demonstrate by peeling off their card while observing, "You could have cut the deck anywhere, but you picked this card."
Place their card face down in the middle of a table and use your iPhone to snap a picture of it from directly overhead (if you wish, have the spectator place their watch or jewelry beside the card to prove the picture wasn't taken in advance). Turn the phone directly towards the spectator to show the photo, "I know, you've seen camera phones before but watch what this one can do!" Begin slowly waving the phone in front of the spectator with the screen towards him, gradually increasing the speed of your shaking until the photo changes before their eyes to appear as if the card had been face up when you took the image! You look at the screen yourself and read the card, "Hmm... looks like you cut to the... Queen of Hearts." (or another card if that's what it shows) Gesture for the spectator to flip over the card as confirmation!
One of the only apps on the store that uses a method so clever that professional magicians from all over the world have performed with Magic Card-- but yet so simple that anyone can perform the trick on their first try.
What's New in Version 2.7
NEW FEATURE: Triple tap the photo after the trick and reveal a secret menu, allowing you to email the image to your spectator or save to the photo library. Updated home screen to match iOS 4.3 default. Fixes serious bug that caused the camera overlay not to work properly on iOS 4.3. Other minor bug fixes, slight changes to instructions.
After one year on the new version 2.7 I have decided that the company has gotten it's money and now doesn't care that the trick A) has a bad camera guide thus making the trick almost, if not completely impossible to do. If I could get my money back at this point I would. It is a sad thing that companies no longer care about their products, their abiltiy to work right and the public that supported them in the processof them making a buck. If this were some mighty manufacturing giant I might be less concerned than I am about a programmer that could at least take a moment to get off his behind to keystroke the frame back into position. I would highly NOT recommend this app and would BEG the app store to do the right thing and refund everyone's money.
Note from the developer...
Thank you to the thousands of Magic Card users many of whom have contributed some great ideas. The new 2.7 release adds the most requested feature we've been getting via email, and I think you'll find it was done elegantly and simply. Keep the ideas coming, and we'll keep improving this great set of illusions. I love performing this effect in all kinds of situations, and I know you will too. Thanks again.
I've been performing card magic for 20 years and was excited at the prospect of using technology in my walk around. This isn't it. If the picture, you could take of the card, was remotely life sized it might be an interesting "reveal" but the software limits you to something slightly bigger than a postage stamp. The notepad reveal is interesting, but you have to shake your iphone forever before the image appears. My audiences would fall asleep by the time the software wakes up and shows them their card. Interesting idea...poor execution. Save your $5.
