Ratings and Reviews
MQ App (New England)
The app is very descriptive and tells you where each item is located. In the tab “Runes” you can access all of the runes and what it takes to make them. Therefore, you don’t have to walk to a portal every time you need to find another item, very convenient. There is a tab (Regions) that tells you where every location is at the resort. For example, in my case the app states, “Howling Hills is next to the Play Park”. The app also can tell you how to start your adventure or a quest and teach you the steps on how to do them. Another thing the app states is a little bit of backstory and lore for all of the new people to the game. I’ve played through the campaign twice now. On my first run through I didn’t use the app at all, and didn’t even know about it. This run took me around 2 to 3 hours. On my second run, a year later, I used the app and it only took me 1 to 2 hours. Now you could debate that me doing it twice made my second run faster, but it was a year later, so I forgot everything. So, this was my opinion on the New England Version of the MQ Game.
Great Beginners Guide
Great App for new players! The app offers a lot of insight for beginners and very informative to those looking to learn more. Full guide of the basic game and a good description of the other features, such as Toppers and Totems. This app should only be used by parents to assist. The downfall of this app seems to be the lack of GWL locations with MagiQuest.
Missing Essential Features
It doesn’t have the one thing you actually need more than anything else, a map. Please add a map. Pretty useless without a map.
The app also doesn’t list what the runes do in combat so you have to remember the details of each one.
There is no checklist or synchronization between your quest status and the app. It is very easy to accidentally restart a completed quest thus wasting your current progress.
The app provides no clues or hints if you get stuck. The information that is provided is very short and not helpful. You are much better off asking another nearby kid for help.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
