I Like Mail Call (down five stars to four)

Robert Jacobson

AMENDMENT, May 31, 2017. "At the moment, Mail Call is reporting 791 new emails on my Mac, whereas I can count only about 200 in Apple Mail. It’s been this way for over a week. I emailed Pugsley LLC for support but haven’t heard back from the developer at this time. It’s still a nifty application, but less useful without the ability to accurately indicate my new-email load with just a quick glance. Sorry to be critical but that’s my situation at the moment. Glad to revise this review upward again once the developer gets back to me with a solution or at least a promise to find one."

INITIAL COMMENT, May 26, 2017 (after a year’s use). "First of all, it always works. It shows me pending email graphically and item by item. Often, I find it easier to deal with email inside the application rather than in Apple Mail, my usual email client. The interface is easy to manage and offers all the options you need to properly read email, store it, forward it, or delete it, by accounts and by folders = all easy to do, without opening Apple Mai.. Really a boon."

Great App. Needs Work on the UI.

Jurgen B

Compared to what else is out there, this app does a decent job. The UI and interacting with the app needs work, though. Currently, there is too much dependence on working with both mouse and the keyboard. Shortcuts are implemented, but only when the app window is visible. Additionally, interacting with messages in the window is only possible when clicking on a message in the list. Again, this is where keyboard and mouse interactions fall appart.

The purpose for an app like this is to do a quick job of notifying and acting on mail that has come in and not require a bunch of mouse clicks and keyboard actions to do so. Otherwise, I can just leave my mail client in the background and interact in the same fashion with it, with Mail Call being superfluous.

Looking forward to the next iteration of the app.

Doesn’t worth its price

I thought this app would be like Notify, but it’s not stable at all for the below reasons, I’m switching back to Notify!

1. When I delete an email it doesn't actually goes to the "Trash" folder, tried to check where the emails go when I delete them and found out that when I use a Gmail account, the deleted emails go to the "All Mail" Folder, and when I use an Outlook account, the deleted ones never show under under any folder! tried to search for them but found nothing! (The were permanetly deleted).

2. After adding around 4 email clients (3 Google Apps accounts and 1 Outlook), Mail Call doesn't work properly, and doesn't show any new email and the updating (refresh) button keeps loading forever.

3. Outlook account syncing is really slow. ( after receiving an email in my Inbox, I tried to update Mail Call many times, but by the end it doesn't show that there's any new new email.
