Mail Pilot 2: Email Inbox Simplified

By Mindsense LLC

Open iTunes to buy and download apps.

Don’t let another email slip through the cracks. Mail Pilot simplifies email with a task-oriented approach so you can get your email done and get on with your day. “Mail Pilot on iOS is one of the most intuitive and powerful ways to manage your email” - Cult of Mac.

”A clean, impressive, often beautiful way to manage unruly email” - Macworld

“For the first time in recent memory, I had an empty inbox. A couple days later, I was caught off-guard when the reminders kicked in and let me know I actually had stuff to do. And, I did them.” - TUAW

Mail Pilot has been featured by Apple as a Best New App and a featured Productivity App and covered in TechCrunch, The New York Times, Wired Insider, Ars Technica, Lifehacker, and more…

Check out Mail Pilot for Mac, which became the #1 paid app in the entire Mac App Store in 58 countries in 2014, and create a seamless, cross-platform email experience.

Finally, you can interact with email the way you already think about it. Mail Pilot simplifies email with a task-oriented approach. From deleting an advertisement to remembering to pay your cell phone bill, all messages are action-based.

When you’re done with a message, simply change its status from Incomplete to Complete, just like a to-do list. Gone are the days of tricking your email client by toggling “mark as unread”.

Set a reminder for a message and Mail Pilot will prompt you when it’s time to deal with it. Free your inbox of messages you can’t yet tackle and never miss a meeting, bill, delivery or due date again.

Set reminders with 1 gesture, swipe messages to complete them, and flick off the rest.

Access files from many services (i.e. Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, etc) from within Mail Pilot via iCloud Drive. Mail Pilot’s Today Widget gives you a glance at your important emails for the day from your device’s Today Center.

Mail Pilot complements any workflow and empowers you to become better organized.

• Organize based on message status – as Incomplete, Complete, or set for Reminder.
• Collect groups of related messages – across all of your accounts using Lists.
• Folders and labels – can be accessed and utilized anytime.
• Easily achieve Inbox Zero — Set Aside messages that can’t be organized immediately and drill through them when you have more time.

Add your Google, iCloud, Yahoo!,, AOL, and other standard IMAP accounts. Mail Pilot remains securely synchronized with your email servers and other clients. Mail Pilot is not compatible with POP accounts because they do not allow two-way synchronization. Mail Pilot is not compatible with Exchange accounts if they do not have IMAP enabled.

Mail Pilot never stores, processes, or transmits your personal data through any third-party servers. All of your account information, passwords, personal data, and messages are securely stored on your device. All communication occurs directly between your device and your email server.

Mail Pilot was initially funded on Kickstarter in 2012 and is crafted by Mindsense LLC — a bootstrapped, self-directed, and customer-focused company based in Blacksburg, Virginia and named “one of the hottest startups in the country” by Virginia Business magazine. We’d love to hear from you.

• Mail Pilot Support:
Founders Email (Alex & Josh):

* Mail Pilot is not compatible with POP accounts or Exchange accounts that don’t have IMAP enabled. For security reasons, Mail Pilot does not allow SMTP accounts that do not support authentication. Mail Pilot requires that servers support some common IMAP extensions. If you are concerned about compatibility with your own server, contact us.

Customer Reviews

Finally, it works. And I am very happy.

I know that there are many negative reviews about Mail Pilot. There is even probably one by me. But hear me out as Mail Pilot has gotten there act together,

I like the clean and minimalist interface and concept of Mail Pilot. But unfortunately it never seems to work right for me. The issue was synching between mobile devices and desktop application. I am glad to report that since the last update it is working great for me. While on occasion it seems like the synch is slow, I cannot say it is the app itself or google or my internet connection. But that is now rare and it works great for me.

I have tried and used many other apps, like Mailbox, Boxer, Cloud Magic and others, all great apps, but my favorite has always been Mail Pilot. Mailbox worked fine but I always hd issues with the over sensitive slide gestures. Boxer is also very nice but it feels too convoluted for my needs. It has too many clicks to get things done. I’ll guess is great for those who wants more features. Cloud magic was my to go mail app while I waited for Mail Pilot to get it’s act together. But again, it never flowed for me the way Mail Pilot does.

One of my goals was to have an integrated mail app experience. I wanted one app for the mobile that had a counter part on my Mac. Finally I have my wish with Mail Pilot.

I am now very happy with Mail Pilot and I recommended to anyone looking for a app that is minimalist, clean, looks beautiful and just flows.

Personal favorite Mail app so far

First off, lets address some of the issues I've seen lower reviews mention. You can change your signature in the settings option, and it's pretty simple to do so.

Email threads don't show the entire email thread at once, but previous emails are linked so that you can double-check past replies quickly, without having an entire novel sent back and forth.

You can customize what each gesture does, the colors the app uses, whether or not it notifies you of new email, create lists to better organize yourself, and even set reminders email by email which allows you to deal with things later without forgetting them.

Mail Pilot isn't for everyone. It's for people who want less clutter in their inbox and want to see it at 0, without deleting anything or losing any information. The lists system works like folders, and helps you clear out your main inbox while still keeping to a structure you built. While the gestures and filing may take some getting used to, once you've learned it, this is by far the best and most reliable cross platform app I've used/seen/heard of, and would recommend everyone try it across their phone, tablet and computer, in order to get the full effect.

(Or you could just blame your incompetence on the app, as others apparently have.)

Great mail app for GTD users!

I love the swipe to complete and the long-tap to quickly perform other actions at the list screen!

This email app embraces the empty inbox theory, moving your "completed" emails to a sub-folder. This is why (to the other reviewer) the emails you read on your computer have no effect on the mobile app...unless you use their mail client...which works perfectly with it, or move read emails to the completed folder. I personally love this feature, if you don't like working toward an empty mailbox, this isn't the client for you, but don't leave bad feedback because of it.

Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the read message screen is a little clunky for actions...i.e. You delete a message and are taken back to the list rather than the next message. That and the extended actions screen, while unique, isn't as slick as the list screen
