Description
MarginMaster is a Business Calculator that will help you figure out Markups, Profit Margins and Breakeven points. Great for making price lists and figuring out if your making enough money or not.
The application has 2 main areas for a grand total of 7 calculator elements.
Main Price Calcs:
Profit Margin Calc will help you find the selling price of an item based on the inputed cost and gross profit margin percentage.
Markup Calc will help you find the selling price of an item based on the inputed cost and markup percentage.
Breakeven Calc will help you find how many units you need to sell in order to breakeven and turn a profit.
Find Calcs:
Find Profit Margin will help you find the gross profit margin percentage of an item based on selling price and cost.
Find Markup will help you find the markup percentage of an item based on cost and selling price. It can also give you the markup expressed as a percentage of the cost or selling price.
Find Discount will help you find the discount percentage of an item based on original price and the sale price. This one is great to figure out exactly how much your saving.
Find Cost will help you find the cost of an item based on selling price and markup percentage. It can also give you the cost based on the markup percentage of the cost or selling price.

Works but also needs some work to be a true "Margin Master"
First off, I'm running OSX Lion and this is definately worth $2! I'm a salesman who needs to calculate margin and costs based on certian margin percentages all the time. It's much faster than opening and messing with Excel. It does the trick and it's fairly easy to use but could use some minor improvements.
Here's where the whining starts =P
The "Find Cost" tab need to be changed to calculate Margin. The verbage used is a bit confusing as it says "Markup… based on selling price". Margin and markup are very different calculations and they need to be more clear. Mistaking Margin with Markup could cause a VERY expensive mistake in my business. In fact this program uses 3 names for the same margin calculation, 1) Profit Margin 2) Gross profit margin 3) Markup… based on selling price. 1 clear term for this percentage needs to be used. Have I driven this home enough?
The screenshot of the program shows multiple windows… which is not possible with this program. FAIL! Also, if I close the open window, I cant open another. I have to quit and restart the program entirely. FAIL!
Preset margins on the cost calculator would be quite nice. Custom preset margins would be another nice feature.
Custom VAT % support would be nice.
All in all… buy this program so these guys have money to fix the little problems. That would make my life easier! =)
Great App, I have been using it for years.
It is a great app. I wish the graphics were updated but other than that. It works great and really helpful when checking your work to see if your margins are correct. Feature request a popup windo explaining what margin vs markup means for new users.
Worked fine for me.
Not sure what other reviewer is talking about the app not working. I closed the app several times and reopened it to make sure and everything was fine.
Any way, it's a nice and simple to use app.
