The marimba is a musical instrument in the percussion family. Keys or bars (usually made of wood) are struck with mallets to produce musical tones. The keys are arranged as those of a piano, with the accidentals raised vertically and overlapping the natural keys (similar to a piano) to aid the performer both visually and physically.

The chromatic marimba was developed in southern Mexico and northern Guatemala from the diatonic marimba, an instrument whose ancestor was a type of balafon that African slaves built in Central America.

Modern uses of the marimba include solo performances, woodwind ensembles, marimba concertos, jazz ensembles, marching band (front ensembles), drum and bugle corps, and orchestral compositions. Contemporary composers have utilized the unique sound of the marimba more and more in recent years.

Awesome but a few errors

I think the app was great for practicing my xylophone skills at home but there were a few bugs. The sound quality wasn't to great until I put my iPod on the dock and then it sounded amazing. I also couldn't hit two notes at a time which was a little inconvenient for me. Overall it was a great app with little bugs that I could work around and make it work. I think it was worth the 0.99 cents for me but some people may think otherwise.

Simple Fun

The marimba app is simple to use and fun for goofing around. The biggest weakness is that you only can "strike" one note at a time, and so it precludes playing any songs with simultaneous notes.

Let's talk...

Classic cameras

Would be a nice app if it worked. High B does not make a sound UNLESS the app is opened multiple times. I don't blame the author, I blame Apple for accepting half baked apps.
