What's New in Version 5.9.2
Thank you for choosing the Marriott Mobile App!
In this release:
- Variety of bug fixes and improvements
Stop Buying and Start Fixing
The morons at Marriott are obsessed with buying other company's. Why, they haven't had an iriginal thought in decades. Case in point: this miserable app. Hard to believe that a company this size could produce an APP this horrible. Given the trashing they received over their previous attempts one would think they would at least try to offer improvements. They need to learn from other travel companies. The mobile check-in is a complete and utter failure. Tried to use it twice, staff at hotels hopelessly confused. Here is an idea, before launching new tech, train staff. Their app is aimed at the novice casual user. It treats their best customers terribly, and offers no advantages. Stop being so incredibly cheap and try spending money on tech for the 21st century.
Okay, figured it out. No one can possibly be so stupid to give this horrible app more than 1 star. Has to be Marriott employees fronting for the company, it is the only way, some of these ratings make sense.
Marriott, please do better
Quick Update: One year following the launch of Apple Watch, and their app title still reads, “Marriott-DEV”. Way to go on attention to detail.
We, your customers, deserve a better experience.
I spend a lot of time in Marriott properties (I'm in one right now), so I'll add some levity to my review by using some Marriott terms.
Do not download this app expecting a Marriott EDITION experience. At best, this app is a Residence Inn in a forgotten Midwest town. Sure, it has what you need, and the price is right, but you probably shouldn't look too closely at any of the surfaces.
It can show you your reservations.
It can make you a reservation.
It can dial the Marriott phone number when you need anything else.
Seriously awful graphics. Mostly non-Retina, so they look fuzzy.
The general look and feel of a very rookie app, or a "mobile optimized" webpage.
No Passbook support for displaying your Marriott credentials or viewing reservations
Remain signed in functionality is flaky at best
No TouchID support for login
A static Marriott banner at the top of the screen, at all times, that does nothing.
The App is practical and convenient. I just got the trick to navigate through it. Needs some review to make it more user friendly.
Nevertheless, to me it is better and quicker than placing a phone call for reservations.
The Towne Place Suites and the Residence Inn places where I have stayed so many times now, are excellent to me and I have found the staff friendly and professional. Besides that I am building or accumulating Reward Points for for some free stay at any Marriott in the world. What else can I ask?
