Marty's Magic Card
By YitYat Studios
Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
The performer riffles through a real pack of cards until a spectator says stop. The spectator looks at the card, puts it back, and the iPhone is held against the whole pack. After watching for a couple of seconds, the iPhone peers deep into the deck and reveals the card on the screen almost as if it has x-ray vision.
The app works with any of the 52 standard playing cards. Also included is a step-by-step demonstration video showing you how to setup the program and perform the card trick with the spectator.
A great magic trick good anytime, anywhere. All you need is a pack of cards and your phone! Great for beginners as well as professionals.
Pretty Good If Used Well
Completely agree with SouldGrind. Works well, and as advertised. I like the adjustment options and using a screengrab as the background is great. Couple of things that would be great would to be use a slightly less auspicious icon and/or name. Putting the phone in their hand prompts them to want to look. Other option is having the program default to a "dummy screen" when opened and a user "in the know has to do something to get to the settings screen. Other thing that would improve the app is if it remembered the preferences and didn't automatically go to the setup screen. This sort of goes back to my last point. Seriously though, worth the couple bucks. It's as good as it's handled.
Marty, just like the coin trick this one is up there. I NEVER was a magic guy or even liked it at all, but it IS a great bar trick. My wife lit up when I showed it to her (same with the coin). I have been bought many of beer and laughs at these tricks. You even got me to buy the deck online to improve the illusion. Keep making them, they ARE a "per person" type of app, but you do have an audience my friend! I do enjoy pulling the Iphone out for this! It also helps my name is Marty and it just looks natural on my phone!
Works as advertised
You will need to know how to force a card from the deck for the best affect on the audience.
One suggestion for the developer though. To set the time say, up to 60 seconds before the chosen card begins to reveal so that you really can leave the iPhone alone for some time before your subject begins staring at it.
It would also give more time to set up the mood before the act. I would gladly bump my review up to 5 stars for this option.
