Great Game, Questionable Pay Structure
If you played Wedding Escape then you know you are getting a solid match-3 game here. The balance of skill and randomness keeps it fun. However the game is designed to be a money sink and it feels really dated. Like someone said in another review, the progression in the early game is fast but as you level your heroes you begin to see how the developers throttle your progress. Basically you have an annoying "energy" system combined with a slow refresh rate that makes the game nearly impossible to enjoy without spending money. I would be happy to fork over some cash to support the developers but the value of the purchase is low. You're basically refilling your energy or speeding up your refresh rate to get more coins. Or you can just buy coins directly. But eventually you need to refill your tank, meaning more microtransactions, wash/rinse/repeat. It feels really cheap and dated. I would be much happier paying for a permanent boost like an increase in energy cap, coin multiplier, or just being able to buy one of the best heroes directly. Instead I feel "nickel and dimed" and sort of cheated if I spend any money. I'd even spend money to unlock all the heroes for a premium, but as it is the pay structure is so punitive and dated that I'm considering just deleting the game. Maybe next time, guys!
It's fun. Love the gameplay, the concept, and the art, but it has some problems. Right now once you get your team members above level 20 or so it gets really hard to level them any more. The number of tokens you need goes up, which makes sense, but in order to evolve them you need Evos which can only come from the shops you own. To open the shop for a certain period you need to capture certain creatures, which means there's a lot of going back and farming old levels. Thankfully once you get three stars on a level you can quick complete it once every few hours. However, right now it feels like that's all I'm doing. I don't have enough energy to farm Evos and try to progress, but even if I did the creatures in my current progression levels hit too hard and have too much hp for my team to win without a lot more leveling.
I think the developers were concerned about people progressing too quickly, as there isn't much content yet. I understand this, but it's getting so frustrating that I may stop playing if it isn't fixed at least a little. With all the other games I have I may not end up coming back to this one.
Love a challenging puzzle but needs more balance
The game is super cute and polished. But the game is pretty unbalanced without grinding to the moon and back to lvl up your guys. Enemies hit you for 1/4 or more of your health and your damage is based on how many matches you make. You're given one second to match one move otherwise your time is out. This all sounds great to me. My issue is that you have 5 heroes in your team and a TINY matching board. This ends up with several energy and time wasted and stars lost simply because there are too many colors on the board. You have one color per hero PLUS healing gems on the board. So so so many times I'm just doing one match at a time and wasting my moves and taking so much damage I die because literally there are too many colors on the board and there is only one match available. This leads to a string of single matches. There needs to be some way of manually shuffling the board. I'd happily use gold to buy an item to do this. Otherwise even if you have all the speed and matching powers of the world, it isn't gonna help if the game only gives you one match at a time.
