Update well worth it
It’s hard to di justice in a short review to an app that is a sort of mini-matlab & Mathematica rolled into one. It has a basic, but quite acceptable, CAS (Computer Algebra System) and workes well in either symbolic or numeric modes. It has a fairly extensive set of plotting capbilities too.
MathStudio 6 is a considerable improvement over MathStudio 5 in terms of the interface and Mac-like qualities. MathStudio 6 supports iCloud Drive, versioning, and other things Mac users have come to expect in Mac programs. One nice feature will be when the iOS versions of MS 6 are released. Then one can work on the Mac/iPhone/iPad and have the files avaible through iCloud.
Since this is a complete re-write of the MS 5, there are naturally a few hickups. I’ve found a few bugs and a few limitations from time to time, but I can usually work arlound them. Mitigating that, there is an active user community and the developer is actively working on improving the app. On the whole, I am pleased.
There is a web version that can be tried out at the developer’s web site. I recommend you try it out to see if MathStudio 6 is useful to you.
