MayanCycles explores up to 16 different interpretations with the alignment of the Mayan calendar to our Gregorian. It exposes the hysterics over the Mayan date 18.104.22.168.0 (interpreted in only 1 definition as falling on December 21, 2012), as it discusses the Mayans in the context of their mathematical knowledge.
A good educational tool for learning about the Mayan calendar
This app looks at the Mayan calendar system from a scholarly perspective, without any New Age silliness. Each part of the calendar and its glyphs is explained and presented with pleasing graphics. Each date can be mapped to our standard (Gregorian) calendar (according to the numerous correlations/interpretations). In addition to the calendar app itself, there is an impressive documentation area that explores background details about the Mayans, their calendar and their mathematics, as well as the various scholars that have studied the calendar. A really nice app for anyone that wants to learn about established, scientific facts regarding the Mayan calendar.
