Pretty good... but there are some glitches
First off, the premise of the app is nice. It’s refreshing and addicting. The music is pretty decent, modern-retro-ish whatever you wanna call it. But it’s good. One of my gripes is that the snake has a nice animation where it slams into whichever way you make it turn - it’s really satisfying. But the final slam for when you complete the level glitches and it slows down... a lot. Not a big deal, but for aesthetic purposes, it should slam more profoundly.
A bigger problem is with the sound after an ad. After every 4-5 levels/attempts, you get a 30sec ad that you can skip, but once the game resumes, the sound is completely gone.
These two fixes will enhance the game rather substantially. The game loads kinda slow, but I don’t think there’s a simple fix for that. Overall, great game, minor flaws software wise.
This game is a lot of fun. I have enjoyed the puzzles and liked the way that it is designed. Truly a niche idea to me. But I heavily dislike their ad system; 30 second ads that you are unable to skip really cripple the game. It will inevitably push people away from it. I feel as though this is a horrid way to try and get people to pay for the ad-free version of it. Didn’t even really bother to see what price it had because it just rubbed me the wrong way. Banner ads or at least ads you could skip would merit a higher score, but I do not feel as though we should be rewarding app-developers like this, nor enabling future developments to follow in its stride.
Overall this is a fun game brought down by greed. Should have just made the game .99 to begin with instead of cursing it with these ads.
Worth a Download
When I played I haven’t had any of the ads others were mentioning. The only way I saw to view ads was voluntarily watching them for new face skins. The puzzles are the perfect difficulty for wanting to sit for a few minutes and bust through several levels. New ideas come fairly frequently in the mechanics too. Worth getting!
Edit: I’ve finished the game now. I stand by my comments on the levels being exactly what I was looking for, but did start experiencing the ads. These can be turned off for $1.99. I feel like a star must be deducted due to several crashes that booted me from the game during the final sections of levels.
