Frequent Issues Redeeming Deals
For years I have not been a fan of McDonald’s, but when this app was released, I was converted because of the incredible coupons. I was genuinely impressed with the app itself, the mobile ordering, and especially the “Deals.” In fact, for a month or two my wife were getting McDonald’s nearly every day — something we had NEVER done before.
Unfortunately, connectivity issues have plagued the app. 9-10 times at 3 different stores, with mobile orders ordering at the counter, and using a kiosk, the “Deals” coupons do not register. They show up in the app and work when added to a mobile order, but when you arrive at a store and complete the purchase, it errors out. This has caused me to be charged full price multiple times for things I would not have bought otherwise.
Additionally, the coupons took a massive downturn about 2 weeks ago. I figured this was coming (start out with great promotions to get people on board, then raise prices once they’re hooked), but it has resulted in my family getting McDonald’s only twice in the past 2 weeks, including coffee. I was only visiting so often because the coupons made it worth it, so with the combination of issues using deals and the reduction in deal quality, they lost a family of loyal customers. The app itself is still great, so it’s a shame I won’t be using it much (if at all) anymore.

I use the McDonalds app everyday. Somewhere around 3 to 5% of the time the order does not recognize that it needs to timeout. Theres been times I go back to the app and my order from the previous day is still there waiting for me to get in the drive-thru. And I have had some orders process incorrectly in those situations. I remove the items from the cart and redo the new order. I wish there was a reset cart button or someway to tell the app that the previous order was finished. Closing the app several times and reopening doesnt clear the cart or help it realize that was yesterdays order. Right now I have this mornings order stuck in my cart and it thinks the order hasnt delivered to me yet. Im ten miles away and done eating. And because this is happening, im not getting credit for many cafe drinks I am buying. Im supposed to have my 5 cafe drinks already and twice during this most recent promotion I havent got credit for my drinks when this cart problem happens...
Occasionally you find yourself with a McDonalds employee that doesn’t understand how to check out a mobile order and they do something wrong to the order and want to be paid. This happens less often now, but still I run into a drive-thru employee that I have to instruct that the order is already paid, no fault of this app or the developer of course.

They have many deals that aren't in store, many buy one get one free breakfast and lunch sandwiches everyday. How is that not amazing? 2 sausage egg mcmuffin for like 1.60 each? Some days they even have had a free breakfast sandwich with any purchase, and recently they had a free breakfast sandwich no purchase. These are promotions for my local football and soccer teams(go Seahawks and Sounders!)The online ordering just started yesterday for my mcdonalds and everything went smoothly. Got inside and had my order ready, skipped ahead of about 4 orders in front of me. I just hit the check in button and my order number popped up on the screen! One of my friends that works there was asking me some questions about the app and ordering. Got to customize my burger on the app too. Two double hamburgers with lettuce and mayo. Adding mayo is free and it adds to the burgers for sure. I am sorry most people live in a state where the McDonald employees have lower than average IQ and don't know the app YET(online ordering has been out for only a short time)
The scannable deals are great(just order what you want, after they punch it in, then scan your phone. You don't even need to tell them because it'll pop up on their screen after you scan, though communication is still nice)
