Description

* * * WAIT! January 31, 2014 Update! * * *
Autodesk has discontinued their online DWF translator, called Freewheel, that this app used for years to show DWFs in all their glory to Mac users around the world. Because of this, McDwiff no longer works.

There's a chance Autodesk will re-open Freewheel, but it's not likely. So your best best is to not buy this app until we get an update from Autodesk!

Thanks,
Austin Silver Software

McDwiff is a Mac OS X application that opens, views, converts, and prints DWF and DWFx files (McDwiff doesn't open DWG or DXF files! For those, use AutoCAD for Mac.)

McDwiff is also available for iPad.

McDwiff connects to Autodesk's online DWF translator, so accuracy is always 100%. Of course this means your DWF is being uploaded to Autodesk servers, so don't use McDwiff unless you're OK with that. It's all private and stuff, but you never know.

Open any DWF (2D or 3D) on your Mac, just like any other file type. 3D files open, but 3D rotation is still "in the oven", so to speak.

Fast zooming and panning - McDwiff uses predictive image processing, supports multipage DWF files, lets you print DWFs, and can export DWF to TIF, GIF, JPG, PNG, BMP, or PDF.

McDwiff requires Mac OS X 10.6 or later.

What's New in Version 2.1

Now with AppleScript support for batch converting/exporting DWFs to image formats (JPG, PNG, etc.)

Does what it says! Good Purchase!

I got this in a slight panic as I was having problems exchanging files with between AutoCAD and non AutoCAD users, and Adobe and non Adobe users and we needed to be able to mark up the files for QC. I was a little nervous to try this, especially since the person on the other side of me has no experience with Mac, DWFs or even AutoCAD, but after a little fidgeting around we got it working. It really saved my project. It also gives me a great way of tracking reviews and Quality Control without having bulky pdfs clogging my project folders.

I did have a little trouble seeing some of the mark ups in the beginning of using it and I wrote the developer, who responded right away and was very helpful. That really makes a difference.

I would definitely recommend this app, it will be very helpful in the future success of my budding business.

McDwiff to the Rescue

Our project in public safety requires that we consolidate maps from many sources. We like to work on the Macintosh, but many of the maps have been produced in a windows environment with AutoCAD. McDwiff allows us to work with these maps in our preferred configuration, but we are just starting.

Way too Buggy

I am in the construction industry and one of our clients sends us dwfx files for projects, and since I don't have CAD, this was the only app I could find to open the files. It opens them but has way too many bugs to be useful beyond on screen viewing. I can't close windows when I'm done with an image, it does not recognize printer settings for orientation or scaling, so for every single file I print I have to print I have to open the page setup dialogue and often does not print whole image.
